Sewing workshops during Corona

times:

Each workshop will be held with a max. of 3

people, but even then social distancing will not

always be possible. Therefore I would like to ask

you to bring a face covering to wear during the

class. Sewing machines and work surfaces are

disinfected after each class and hand sanitizers are

available.

All workshops will be held in my workroom at

Dots n Stripes, 6 Gullane Terrace, Dundee, DD2

3BT. The full day classes will have a break of

approx. 30 min and you might want to bring

something for your lunch. Tea and coffee is

available to you throughout the day.

The materials are generally not included unless

mentioned otherwise. Please see individual class

descriptions. If you buy fabrics class in my shop,

you will receive a 15% discount.

Sewing machines are provided for all classes.

If there are less than 2 students booked on a

workshop I withhold the right to cancel with 5 days

notice and give a full refund. If you have booked

and paid for a place in one of the workshops but

are unable to come, I will refund your fee in full

provided a replacement can be found by yourself

or by me. If for some unforeseeable reason I have

to make changes, I will inform you as soon as

possible to offer you an alternative day or a full

refund. Payment is required in full at time of

booking to secure your place.

Introduction into sewing

Wednesday, 11th

November 6.30-9pm

Cost: £25

This workshop is for complete beginners who

would like to learn basic sewing skills or those who

want to refresh their skills. During the course of

the evening we will be making an infinity scarf. You

will learn how to thread a sewing machine, try out

various stitches, cut out the material, pin it

together and then use the straight stitch on the

sewing machine to sew it together.

At the end of this workshop you will go away with

a beautiful, fashionable scarf that is truly unique!

Ladies t-shirt

Saturday, 26th

September 10-3pm -fully booked-

Cost: £39, pattern included XS - XL

Sewing with jersey is not as difficult as you think.

In this workshop we will be making a t-shirt made

from knit or jersey fabrics. You will be shown how

to trace the pattern off, cut out the material, sew a

stretchy neckline and finish off seams.

Materials: Not included. You can bring your own

material, please check with me how much fabric is

required, or choose it from the large selection in

my shop at a 15% discount.

New: Triangle Wrap Scarf

Saturday, 24th

Cost: £35, materials included

This triangle wrap scarf is made from stretch jersey

or wool knit fabric and will be a great addition to

your autumn/winter wardrobe.

Together we will cut out the materials, sew it

together on the sewing machine and finish the

scarf off with a stylish faux leather buckle.

Materials: You can choose your materials from the

big selection in my shop on the day of the

workshop, they are all included in the price!

Design Example

Sewing a Cleo pinafore dress by

Tilly and the Buttons

Saturday, 21st

November 10-4pm

Costs: £45, including the pattern size 6 – 20

Cleo is a simple dress with no fiddly bits and

minimal fitting required. Make it dungaree-style

with buckles or as a pinafore with button

fastening. Choose from mini length or knee length

with optional centre front split, patch pockets and

contrast topstitching. You can wear Cleo all year

round depending on your fabric choice: denim,

corduroy, cotton drill, gabardine, canvas or wool –

you are the designer!

Children’s/Men’s jumper

Saturday, 28

th November 10-3pm

Cost: £39, incl. Pattern age 2-16yrs, men XS-XXL

In this workshop we will make a children’s/men’s

jumper from stretchy materials such as sweat

fabric, French terry or jersey. You will learn how to

trace a pattern, cut and work with stretchy fabrics,

make a hood and cuffs. There are two patterns to

choose from, depending on the style you prefer.

Private sewing tuition

If you feel more comfortable learning on your

own, then you might want to try private sewing

tuition. All my classes can be taught as 1-2-1

lessons at a time and date that suits you, either in

my workshop or at your home, if you are in the

Dundee area.

Costs: £15/hour

Individual workshop

Are you a small group of max. three people and

you would like to come for a workshop but can’t

make the dates set, then please contact me and

we can arrange a class at a day that suits you.

Overlocker tuition

Do you already have an overlocker but you are not sure how to use it? Or maybe you would like to try it out first to find out if you really do want one? I'm happy to help you gain confidence in using the machine with 1-2-1 tuition available at a day and time that suits you. £15/hr. Overlockers are really not scary, honestly!
