Other Fun Things

Bugs on a Log Snack You’ll need: celery cut into 4" lengths peanut butter raisins Directions: Spread peanut butter in celery and arrange raisins on top. You can substitute cream cheese for peanut butter.

Fingerprint Bugs Have child dip thumb in washable paint and print a thumb print on paper. This is the bugs body. With a marker add legs and antennae.

Lady Bug Friend Paint a rock red. Once the red paint has dried, draw a capital T with black paint down the back of the rock and add black spots like a ladybug.

Outdoor Bug Hunt

Give your child a magnifying glass and go on a outdoor bug hunt together. Encourage your child to look at the bugs carefully and tell you what he or she sees.

The Insects Outside (tune: “The Wheels on the Bus”) The fireflies at night go blink, blink, blink Blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink The fireflies at night go blink, blink, blink Out in the garden. The bees in the flowers go buzz, buzz, buzz Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz The bees in the flowers go buzz, buzz, buzz Out in the garden.

Repeat with the following verses: cricket/fields/chirp caterpillars/on the leaves/munch spiders/in the bush/spin their webs worms/in the ground/wiggle and squirm

The Itsy-Bitsy Spider The itsy-bitsy spider Climbed up the water spout. Down came the rain And washed the spider out. Out came the sun And dried up all the rain. And the itsy-bitsy spider Climbed up the spout again.

Caterpillar Little fuzzy caterpillar In your warm cocoon The cold winter's over and you'll be hatching soon. Then you'll spread your wings On a warm summer's day And wave us all goodbye As you fly, fly away.
