It’s been more than 40 years, but the Bookstore finally has a per-manent location on campus — and it’s a beauty.
Work is currently underway to move the Bookstore, which is closed through Tuesday morning when operations will resume in the new location.
The campus Production Center, which is also moving into the Bookstore Building, is closed as well. Service is scheduled to restart on Tuesday as well.
The Bookstore is a single-story, glass front building with architec-ture mirroring the new Student Center, which is scheduled to open on May 5.
In addition to the Bookstore’s retail space and the Production Center, the 8,600-square-foot building also includes a warehouse for Bookstore inventory.
It is located immediately adjacent to the east side of the Business Building and the north side of Tech Ed 1. The Student Center is
immediately east of the Bookstore and south of the Cypress College Complex (formerly the Library/Administration Building).
The Bookstore had operated in temporary facilities at the east end of the pond. Those buildings — which stood at the northwest corner of what’s now the Library/Learning Resource Center — were torn down in February, 2004 to make room for the L/LRC construction.
Bookstore operations have resided in Gym 2 since vacating their former temporary home while awaiting construction of the new facility.
The Production Center also has been in a temporary location, having moved from what is now the deans’ area for Counseling and Student Support Services on the second floor of the Complex. Production has been on the first floor of the Business Building since May, 2005.

Eco Dino a Highlight in Student Art ShowPrana the Dinosaur, created by students in ACG 298 will
debut at the Annual Student Art Show, which opens May 1 in the new Art Gallery. Students worked as a team to build Prana, a “smart” inflatable sculpture. The design enables the sculpture to monitor and visualize the current air quality data of Cypress, CA. Prana has been programmed to emit colored light in accor-dance to the current air quality data extracted from Airnow.gov. Learn more at www.air-dino.info.
