The Boom adheres to the principle of ‘thinking outside the box’, reflecting novel ways of expressing ourselves by unifying the alternative and psychedelic culture of the world. It is a weeklong experience away from dominant culture in the Portuguese sunny unspoilt nuclear-free lands. Boom’s multidisciplinary, mind-expanding program is constantly evolving.

Boom is held within a natural paradise embedded by centuries-old Iberian trees, playful gardens, and a pristine lake that reflects the magic of the full moon, the mountains and an incredible panoramic landscape.

The Liminal Village is Boom’s cultural hub. With lectures and talks on themes as diverse as activism, psychedelia, free cultural spaces, ancestral rites, mythology, ecology, dreamscapes, Permaculture, trance, sacred plants or alternative science.

This is the heartbeat of the Boom! The Dance Temple is a futuristic tr ibal-dance area uniting us with the universal spirit of psychedelic t rance. To connect us w ith the transformative meaning of 2012, we are inviting the finest DJs, live acts and tribal bands to play longer sets for a deeper trance experience – abolishing in the process, the notion of quantity over quality. Here, we nurture love for the diversity of the intricate dimensions of psy, dark, twilight, forest, tribal, prog, full-on, groovy full-on, Goa and nu-Goa to name just a few.

Boom is not driven by the idea of a so-called “star-system” or that line--ups do festivals. On the contrary, it diverts from the realm of egotism, exerting homage to the collaborative experience of musicians, DJs, VJs, decorators , designers and most impor tant ly, the publ ic – each channelling a creative force for the collective transcendence.

Bio-Architects and designers, driven by environmental and Permaculture principles, build Boom’s cultural/services areas using bamboo, cane, adobe, recycled wood, burlap, stone or straw bale. Bio-Construction that emanates f rom the heart for the beautiness of the Boom experience...

Boom Environmental Program applies the Permaculture principles onto the festival. It has been recognized with the Greener Festival Award Outstanding 2008 and 2010 and also the European Festival Award 2010, demonstrating how possible it really is to create human gatherings that respect the Sacred Earth. We use 100% composting toilets; we treat 100% of

water using plants and give for free pocket ashtrays; we use waste veggie oil in the generators and we develop severa l water, Eco-Team, so lar energy, sanitat ion, windmill and bio-construction-based solutions. Epitomised by the hustle and bustle of Anjuna’s Flea Market in Goa, this vibrant, colourful, super-funky zone becomes home to vendors f rom across the world. We select originality and vendors that produce their own collection, displaying inspiring stalls that enhance the glow you already feel and connect you to the arts and crafts of the universe.

The world is at the peak of consumption and we at Boom support both small producers and local products to avoid the dictatorship of world trade organisations. We avoid big brands and opt instead to promote fair trade cola, local drinks and bio-products that are consciously created.

The caravan park was not wel l situated during the last edition of Boom and we acknowledge the criticism that arose as a result of this.

To overcome the impact of this experience and make justice to all caravan travellers, we are building a new caravan park from scratch –conveniently positioned within the festival grounds and that will feature both water facilities and plenty of space. Similarly, the new car park is in a new location, just a few meters near the festival grounds.

Boom is, and always will be, completely free of corporate sponsorship and is funded by ticket sales alone. We are a corporation-free-driven festival, a zone of cognitive liberty that has grown organically by word of mouth.

We feel the economical and financial downturn affecting more and more people – we want to be an inclusive gathering, we were sad of listening people regretting they didn’t had the money to participate in Boom 2010. We aim to abolish the financial speculation that doesn’t allow cultural fruition of those with fewer resources.

There are special prices for countries outside European Union, USA, Canada,

Australia, New Zealand and Japan. There are special prices for countries that are undergoing economic speculation of rating agencies and IMF: Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Spain.

Special pr ice tickets can only be bought at the Ambassadors in each country. They are not available online. All those who purchase one of these tickets need to present the passport at the gates.

BOOM 2012 is downsizing its physical size in 50% compared with 2010. Cultural areas are closer between each other spread across a beautiful waterfront. Caravans are inside the venue. Car Park is on the north side of the Boom Land, around the Boom Bus station of 2010, just 5 minutes walk to the camping & caravan park,.

The world is accelerating and the universe is calling each one of us for a change. 2012 is a zenith of all mythologies that have been arising in the last decades.

The spirit of Boom is unique. It arises as a meeting point of like-minded people from all over the world, which converge to manifest an alternative reality. It is a celebration of intuition, telepathy and hyper-connectivity that resonates far beyond the simplicity of a just a music or line-up based festival.

Boom is an intercultural, psychedelic, mult id i sc ip l inary, independent , visionary gathering for creation; a centre-point in the universe built on cognitive freedom, ego-dissolution and where dreams mani fest to become reality.

Every two years during the August Full Moon, this gathering of the alternative

tribes of the Sacred Earth contribute to the rejuvenation of a new and sensitive universe using art as a tool of communication, and bridging an ancestral tribal knowledge with a futuristic perspective.

A temporary autonomous zone of free-thinkers based on values that are the elements of the SPIRIT OF BOOM and will remain forever beyond 2012 mythology: peace, art , f reedom, awareness and love.

Held in a paradisiacal location that surrounds a magnificent lake found in the heart of the sunny, unspoilt vista of Portugal, the 9th edition of Boom Festival take place from July 28th to August 4th 2012, and is the peak of a collective wave of transformation that we all feel within.
