A Newsletter for Members and Friends of
Wallingford Community Senior Center OCTOBER, NOVEMBER,
DECEMBER 2017
As our regulars know, in September, we launched a computerized check-in system here at WCSC, using
SchedulesPlus software. This new system has many benefits for WCSC and our participants.
As a participant at WCSC, SchedulesPlus allows you to:
—Conveniently check in and pay at once for all programs you’ll be attending for the day. No more writing your name, zipcode, and year of birth! Optional scan cards make signing in even easier.
—Add money to a prepay account, which will be deducted a little at a time as you check in for programs with
fees. This eliminates the need to carry small bills, write checks for small amounts, and stop to pay the front
desk volunteer—makes checking in a breeze!
—Browse our calendar, register for programs, view your participation history, donate, add or renew a
membership, and add funds to your prepay account – from home, or anywhere with internet access! Simply
visit www.schedulesplus.com/wcsc and explore!
SchedulesPlus efficiently merges and replaces a great many of WCSC’s outdated systems, saving lots of staff
time and, ultimately, money. Before, staff and volunteers would spend day after day transcribing squiggly
hand-written information into spreadsheets, and then day after day putting that data together in order to fulfill
our reporting requirements for the City of Seattle and other funders. With SchedulesPlus, all your data is
securely stored and password-protected. Reports can be produced in minutes, not days, leaving staff with
more time to interact with participants and improve WCSC’s programs, communications, and outreach.
We want to have the best possible data to report to the City, and we also want to pursue grants, determine
needs, and evaluate programs. To this end, we’d appreciate it if everyone who comes to WCSC completes a
demographic survey. Having basic information about our participants helps us to serve you better. Please fill
out a survey the next time you are in!
While I know a new system may pose some difficulties at first, I hope that you’ll grow to appreciate the ease
and convenience it will bring to us all. Happy checking in!
Our front desk smiles are still the same!
Best,
Claire Petersky,
Executive Director

members like me help local organizations address needs within our communities. I am very excited
to have the opportunity to work at WCSC and look forward to connecting with all the members. Outside

EBB AND FLOW MOVIE SCREENING AND DISCUSSION
FRIDAY, NOV 3, 1:30—3:30PM

family history to his adult son Patrick on their shellfish tidelands. Patrick learns
of the important role his family has played in modern Washington State history
and the PNW shellfish farming industry. The Yamashitas’ story is an inspiring one
