WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS IN RECENT WEEKS WITH CARS PULLING IN OR OUT WHEN BUSES ARE ENTERING, STATIONARY AND LEAVING THE ZONE. WE ALSO ASK THAT PARENTS NOT DROP OFF STUDENTS AT THE MEN’S SHED AS THE STUDENTS OFTEN TEND TO WALK STRAIGHT ACROSS THE ROAD BETWEEN THE BUSES THAT ARE ENTERING, STATIONARY OR LEAVING THE ZONE. VCE English Texts 2020 There has been a letter sent home with Year 10 and 11 students regarding English texts for 2020.

In order to access some of the English texts so they can be used for the Kick Start program (Year 12 2020)

and read over the summer break, an order form has been emailed and given to students. The purpose of this

form is to ensure all students are organised for the purchase of their VCE English texts and most importantly

have them early so they can be read over the summer break.

If you plan to buy any of the texts yourself, be sure you buy the correct edition as specified in the order

form. It is important that translations and page numbers are consistent.

Please contact Susan Gould if you have any questions

Year 10 Mock Interviews

Last Friday, Year 10 students were involved in mock job interviews designed to prepare them for this

inevitable experience of the future. All students are to be congratulated for the effort they put into their

cover letters, resumes and also their preparation for the interview. The interview panel of Angela Poxon,

Mary-Ann Sait, Alister McDougal and Stephen Field were impressed by how seriously the students took the

interviews and how positively they presented themselves. We also sincerely thank Angela, Mary-Ann,

Alister and Stephen for their time.

Boys Having a Hit at Zone Level

Last week, 11 Year 7-10 boys tripped

down to Bendigo to meet the challenge of

Catherine McCauley College (Bendigo)

and St Marys (Nathalia) in the

intermediate cricket zone finals. Playing

against predominantly Year 10 students,

it was a difficult challenge for our batting

and bowling. It was pleasing to note the

improved batting performance in our

second game, doubling our first game

score with cameos from Will Toose,

Fergus Bear and Jaymason Bartlett. The

bowlers also hit the pitch more

consistently and took many more

wickets. Playing out of our comfort zone

against better opposition will hopefully

allow the boys to see the levels at which

they can improve to perform at this level.

Bring on 2020!

A huge thanks to Jo Bear and Stephen Field for providing the transport and cheering the team on

the day.

Gateways, the Angling Club, Carp Eradication and Toose Farm Visit

The Gateways Class has been meeting with the Boort Angling Club both at school and at the lake at

their facility. There was discussion about running an event and what has to be done, and also about

fishing as a form of recreation. The club donated $200 and we purchased rods, reels and tackle.

We thank them for their support. A BBQ lunch and a spot of carp fishing followed, with Becky

Barsdell reeling in, not one, but two, carp! We thank Rod, Guy, Ron and all of the members of the

Angling Club for their time. A number of students also helped out with the competition.

We also thank Vaughan Toose for hosting the group on one of their farm visits. Vaughan spoke to

the group about the current state of crops on his farm, irrigation practices and farm infrastructure.

It is great have our farming community so willing to

share some time and knowledge with students.
