I Corinthians 13:1-8“Does not parade itself” – present middle indicative of perpereuomai – vain-glorious; braggart; to boast of oneself. This is the outward display. It doesn’t try to impress others; it is not a braggart.

In 12:21-26 they each felt that their gifts were superior.

This one can also keep you from doing things, such as teaching, etc. “What if I mess up?” “I’m not good enough.” What will they think of me?”This was the Moses problem! (Cf. Ex. 3 & 4).

2) The people won’t believe me! (4:1)

3) I can’t speak well (4:10) – I stutter a lot (especially when I am nervous!)

I Corinthians 13:1-8In fact, bragging about yourself is usually the result of your actually feeling inadequate – perhaps from emotional bondage from your childhood.

I Corinthians 13:1-8“Love…does not behave rudely” (vs. 5) – present active indicative of aschemoneō – to behave in an unbecoming manner; to behave dishonorably or indecently; doesn’t embarrass or belittle others (this is what we do to make ourselves look better). Love…does not seek its own” (vs. 5) – present active indicative of zēteō – to search after; to pursue; to endeavour to obtain; to seek in order to find by thinking, meditating, reasoning; aim at; strive after.

This is a selfish person that wants their own way, or else! They are operating under the lusts of the Old Sin Nature (OSN) (cf. James 3:14, 16).
