Narrative

The narrative structure of this film, relates to Todorov’s theory, because at the beginning of the film a state of equilibrium, then a problem arises, which continues throughout the film and at the end the equilibrium returns to normality.

Consider the challenge that the film presents to audiences

There are several aspects of the film which are unusual and different from normal conventional films. The film has a documentary feel to it as the filming is unsteady and they are filming each other at some points but at other points during the film the it feels as if they are acting for the camera, this is what makes the film different and unique.

consider any issues of representation, particularly the way the film represents

‘reality’.

This film has a realistic feel because it seems like a documentary, but at the same time parts of the storyline make the audience feel it’s too fake, for example ‘parts’ of Borat’s culture seem totally unrealistic such as, his sexual relationship with his sister, the nursery where children are holding guns etc.
