Bosch Blue Line brake pads:The perfect match for your vehicle

OE design approach

The brake system on every new vehicle has been tuned

specifically to the dynamics of that vehicle. While some

components may be the same across similar models it

is quite common to “tune” the brake performance via

modifications to the brake pads.

Therefore, the brake pad on virtually every new vehicle is

unique.

Bosch’s vehicle matched engineering approach

In order to get as close as possible to the OE performance level, Bosch analyses the OE brake pad and then engineers a

suitable replacement.

Stages of matching a Bosch brake pad:

1. Assess the OE friction material formulation based on vehicle families and carefully match it to the many available Bosch

formulations.

2. Assess the OE pad design and replicate the pad shape. If required, add any chamfers, slots or noise shims.

3. Assess any OE wear indicator systems and replicate.

4. Identify any additional hardware (shims, bolts, etc.) that should be supplied to ensure the best possible performance.

5. Test the final product according to relevant international specifications to ensure the closest possible match to the OE

performance.

6. Make any final modifications to the design in order to fine tune aspects such as noise.

The final result

Bosch Blue Line brake pads are vehicle match engineered to determine the best match of advanced friction formulations and

pad design elements to deliver quiet, clean and reliable stopping performance.

2

We take this approach because it is virtually impossible to provide vehicle owners with the

best possible brake performance by using one design solution across all vehicles.

It is one of the fundamental reasons why Bosch brake pads have already been acknowledged

by high profile automotive publications such as Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport as the best

brand in Europe.

Different look:Same high quality

3

The Bosch Blue Line brake pad range incorporates a variety of design features and numerous friction formulations which

allow your customers to receive the best possible braking performance.

While vehicle requirements may change, there’s one thing that will never diminish, and that’s Bosch’s commitment to quality

and product development.

* Regulation ECE R90 specifies critetia that brake pads must meet before being offered for sale on the open market.

Brakes are permanently under stress

Vehicle brakes are subjected to extreme loads. For example,

braking horsepower is about 10 times engine horsepower,

which is why brake pads reach such high temperatures.

During long mountain descents or when driving in stop-and-

go highway traffic, temperatures can easily reach as high

as 650°C. To ensure safety, brake pads therefore need to

be regularly inspected and replaced only with high quality

products such as Bosch brake pads.

Quality without compromise

Bosch brake pads have been developed to withstand

extreme loads and are manufactured from especially

high quality materials. Extensive performance and NVH

dynamometer testing along with extreme environment

testing ensures that Bosch brake pads demonstrate a high

level of performance and service life before being approved

for sale.

Bosch brake tip

Always bed-in new brakes prior to returning the vehicle to your

customer. This will ensure that the brake system is working at its

most effective when you hand the vehicle back.

Friction material selection

Bosch has access to an ever-growing portfolio of friction material formulations worldwide making it easier to match the OE

braking performance. In general terms, manufacturers of different vehicle types lean towards specific formulation groups

in order to achieve the best braking performance. For instance, Australian and Asian vehicles are mostly matched with

ceramic formulations to deliver smooth, quiet braking with low dust.

Bosch follows this direction in order to deliver braking performance that is as close as possible to the original.

Typical Blue Line performance

Tested by Bosch

During development, Bosch brake

pads are tested for all facets of

braking performance including

dynamometer testing, noise

evaluation, environmental testing

and on-vehicle performance.

Using state-of-the-art vehicle test

facilities such as the Bosch proving

ground in China and the Bosch

winter test centre in Sweden ensures

that all of the necessary on-vehicle

performance testing can be carried

out in accordance with Bosch’s high

quality standards.

Our aim is to provide the best

possible brake pads to ensure driver

safety and customer satisfaction.

Your safety is our business:From system design to high quality Bosch brake pads

At Bosch, your safety is our number one priority.

Along with the invention of the Anti-skid Braking System in 1978, Bosch has remained at the forefront of braking

development including the release of such innovations as Electronic Stability Program and Lane Change Assist.

When it comes to brakes, your

customers expect total safety

without compromise.

Top quality and always reliable,

genuine Bosch brake pads enable

you to meet these expectations.

Made by Bosch:A global manufacturing network

Bosch’s global manufacturing network spreads across 18

countries employing over 20,000 people worldwide.

The one thing binding all of these facilities together is

a set of manufacturing and quality standards ensuring

that Bosch customers receive the highest quality product

consistently.

Nanjing Brake Pad Facility

One of the latest additions to this manufacturing network

is Bosch’s brake pad production facility in Nanjing, China

which opened in 2012.

As the largest Bosch Automotive Aftermarket

manufacturing facility, the Nanjing brake pad plant

can produce up to 6 million brake pads for customers

worldwide.

Features of the Nanjing facility include:

Locally developed friction formulations based on OE

performance requirements

Bosch Braking Systems: More than just padsBraking systems have been part of the Bosch product offering

since 1927. Today, one in every three Asian, Australasian and

European vehicles on our roads have Bosch components within

their braking system.

At Bosch, we offer you and your customers technology that

improves everyday life. And today, Bosch is widely regarded as

one of the world’s leading innovators in braking technology.

Bosch braking has utilised its know how and the latest

engineering technology to combine all the braking components

together to provide vehicle users with comprehensive vehicle

safety systems.

These developments are known as ‘Active Safety’ for driver

control, ‘Driver Assistance’ for driving guidance and ‘Passive

Safety’ for passenger and pedestrian safety.

Whether it’s hydraulic components or fluids, disc rotors, ABS

systems, electronic wear sensors or brake pads, Bosch should

always be your first choice in braking.
