I had a really good time because on the one hand I could spend a funny afternoon with my classmates, and on the other hand I appreciated the exquisite job of different artists that are in the museum. The pieces were donated by Fernando Botero, giving the opportunity to the citizens of enjoying paintings and sculptures of Dali, Picasso, Rauschenberg, etc… Personally, I liked the work of an artist that was unknown for me, Max Ernst. Max Ernst was a German artist who was born in 1891. He studied art history and psychology which gave him an incredible perspective of the art as a way of communicating imagination and even dreams. For that reason he used different techniques depending on the intention of the work. In the exhibition there is a wonderful painting called ‘‘Explosion in a cathedral’’ . In the piece, he did not paint in an explicit way the things. He used different colors and shapes in order to give the message he wished. We can see how the straight lines from the center represent the explosion, the movement, whereas the mixture of red color represents the fire, and the cool colors that might represent the people or the structure.

Botero Museum: An unforgettable experience

Most of the time we think in traveling abroad in order to know new places, but what we don’t know is that we have a wide selection of amazing things just crossing the street, a clear example is the Botero museum. I had a really good time because on the one hand I could spend a funny afternoon with my classmates, and on the other hand I appreciated the exquisite job of different artists that are in the museum. The pieces were donated by Fernando Botero, giving the opportunity to the citizens of

enjoying paintings and sculptures of Dali, Picasso, Rauschenberg, etc… Personally, I liked the work of an artist that was unknown for me, Max Ernst.

Max Ernst was a German artist who was born in 1891. He studied art history and psychology which gave him an incredible perspective of the art as a way of communicating imagination and even dreams. For that reason he used different techniques depending on the intention of the work. In the exhibition there is a wonderful painting called ‘‘Explosion in a cathedral’’. In the piece, he did not paint in an explicit way the things. He used different colors and shapes in order to give the message he wished. We can see how the straight lines from the center represent the explosion, the movement, whereas the mixture of red color represents the fire, and the cool colors that might represent the people or the structure.

But there are pieces that show other techniques as ‘‘Great Genius’’, which is a sculpture made of Bronze. For me the sculpture represents the wisdom that the culture has imposed to the owl. The owl is not made in a normal way; it is divided in linear sections that give us the idea of an owl. Finally, I consider it was a great experience because we could test our English in a different way, and we could appreciate awesome works of different artists as Max Ernst.
