What is BTX?
it’s a neurotoxin produced by the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum.
it´s popularly known by one of its trade names Botox or Dysport.
HISTORY OF THE BOTULINUM TOXIN
1895- Van Ermengen grows the bacillus from infected human tissues.
1949- Burgen shows that the BT prevents the nervous impulse from reaching a muscle.
1960- Allan B. Scott, an ophthalmologist in San Francisco, begins to investigate with BT in humans.

1973-an authorisation from the F.D.A for its being used on humans is obtained.
2002- FDA approved its use in glabelar wrinkles (EE.UU.)
2002-death in an illegal clinic in Madrid

2004- doctors are allowed to use the BT in Spain.

SUMMARY
The botulinum toxin is produced by the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum.
In 1973 is allowed to be used in humans in EE.UU and in 2004 in Spain.
The BT can treat many things but it’s mainly used for facial remodelling.
