has been started by adopting resolutions to the effect that players will have to be signed before they can play in any gamy after the first of September teams to bring better players here under verbal contract and not them and pay them large salaries for their services The big leaguers will not sign with these small fry as they would prob ably be drafted by a higher class team and would have to go thereby doing themselves harm by signing with small teams for only fifteen days The following resolutions have been mailed to all the directors and tney will notify President George I Hammond whether they will adopt them or not The reso lutions follow Resolved That no player shall be eligible to engage in a game of with any club a member of the Blue Grass League who has not signed a contract with the club offei ing to play him before September 1 1909 and who has not played at least one game with some club a member of said league on or before said date Any club violating this provision hundred dollars 30000 in the dis cretion of the board of directors league for each violation and all games played shall be forfeited opposing club unless otherwise order ed by the board of directors of said quarantine on sheep has been lifted on the sheep to be ship ped into Kentucky for the State Fair Kentuckys First Quarantine For many years sheep scab has been quite prevalent in the West but as a result of the combined efforts of the Federal and State authorities much territory has been entirely freed and the infection in other sections has been greatly reduced and it is hoped that within a few years more the disaese will be entirely stamped out The pres ent quarantine against Kentucky is the first time that the disease has obtained a sufficient foothold to require a Fed eral quarantine Wheat Threshing Almost Done Wheat threshing in Central 1 reports of the conditions show that the loss experienced through the heavy rains which de ayed threshing so long will not be as great as was expected During the early part of the season the yield promises to the record but the loss caused by rains cut it to about an average crop The latest govern nr ent report on crop conditions in Kentucky says the yield will be about eleven bushels to the acre about an average The quality of the grain is not extra good but ow ing to its scarcity during the early part of the threshing season a In order to prevent the bringing inof big leaguers to held out base ballteams in the Blue Grass League at theclose of the season a movement hasbeen started by adopting resolutions tothe effect that players will have to besigned before they can play in anygamy after the first of September

teams to bring better players hereunder verbal contract and notthem and pay them large salaries fortheir services
