Grain farming is one of the
most dynamic industries in the
world. It is also one of the most
vital for mankind. Efficiently
producing the products that feed
people is truly a noble endeavor.
Because the food production
system is so reliable, most people in the western world
take food availability for granted. However, as all farmers
know, the production of virtually every crop involves
considerable struggle and is never a given. Every farmer
has experienced crop failures in spite of their best efforts.
It has been well proven that in a given crop year, those
farmers who best adapt to the challenges that develop
during that crop year always generate the best outcome
possible. One of the factors that comes into the formula
for maximizing success is the capabilities of the farmer’s
equipment.
Our goal as a company is to develop and offer new
products that increase the farmer’s ability to cope with
the variability in the conditions that they encounter. We
are constantly pursuing new innovations that expand the
capabilities of our equipment. For example, we have

recently developed a Quick Depth Adjustment (QDA) system
for the 3320 independent opener Air Hoe Drill equipped with
PHD™ openers. This system allows a farmer to change the
seeding depth on a 3320 in a matter of a few minutes rather
than taking the better part of an hour. Now a farmer can
realistically afford to take the time to experiment to find the
optimum seeding depth. When depth adjustment took most
of an hour, farmers simply could not justify spending the
time to try different seeding depths so would carry on at the
existing settings unless it became apparent that the seeding
depth was not appropriate. However, this sometimes
resulted in some emergence problems. Another example of
Bourgault’s innovative capabilities is demonstrated with the
high flotation steering axle system found on the new 86 foot
3320 PHD. With the independent opener drills, because
the packing pressure can be hydraulically controlled, the
item that will cause a drill to start to become stuck is the
main frame caster wheels rather than the main frame packer
gangs. Whenever a wheeled tractor encounters a wet area,
tire slippage will usually increase. At some point, the caster
wheels on the main frame can stop turning because they
are unable to roll over the churned up soil. Shortly after
the front caster wheels start skidding, the entire unit usually
becomes stuck. However, replacing the caster wheels with
a steer-able front axle system equipped with high flotation
800/65R32 tires allows the main frame to roll over the
churned up soil thereby allowing the unit to get through that
wet spot without incident. Furthermore, the seed will continue
to be deposited at the desired depth. Farmers can start
seeding sooner in the spring or after a rain, seed more of their
marginally wet areas and still do a job and spend far less time
getting themselves unstuck.
Starting with the development of Bourgault’s first cultivator
in 1970, Bourgault has developed a culture that fosters
innovation to make farming better. As a result, Bourgault
has been able to attract many top tier designers who share a
passion for “making farming better.” Making farming better
includes designing equipment that allows farmers to be more
efficient and productive but it also means helping make
farming less risky, onerous and frustrating. In short, the goal
is to make farming less problematic and more rewarding for
our customers. Because our designers are closely connected
with modern farms, they completely understand the struggles
that farmers face in meeting the challenges of successfully
producing a crop as farms become increasingly larger and the
costs of producing a crop continue to increase.
w w w . b o u r g a u l t . c o m
Going forward, it will continue to become increasingly
more challenging for farmers to grow enough grain
to feed the world’s population and also meet the
demand for the production of bio-fuel and industrial
products. However, farmers have consistently
demonstrated that if they are given the right
incentives, they will find the way to produce more
grain. This includes: 1) adopting improved plant
genetics, 2) enhancing their fertility program,
3) increasing the use of herbicides, fungicides and
pesticides, 4) adopting the best farming practices
and 5) investing in more advanced and capable farm
equipment. Our mission is to contribute to help
leverage the farmers’ efforts, as best as we can,
with our innovative products. As you go through this
year’s catalogue, we believe that you will see a host
of innovations that can help your farm become more
efficient and productive while making your life as a
farmer better and more rewarding.

With advancements in size and design,
the new 3320-86* takes productivity and
convenience to the next level. By increasing
the size of the ParalinkTM seeding system and
adding convenience features (such as the
ability to adjust your seed depth in minutes on
the QDA) you may,
for once, have time on your side.
For greater efficiency, combine your 3320-86
with the 7950 air seeder.

ADVANCED TR ACK ING
Even a large tractor may be
challenged keeping this huge drill
on track, especially with a fully
loaded air seeder behind it. The
hydraulically assisted wagon-style
steering will ensure that the drill is tracking true during field
operation. The patent pending design applies the greatest
amount of force at the start of turning, but reduces force as
the turning angle increases. This is to prevent the drill from
skewing, but allows for turns around potholes or tree lines.
H I - F LOTAT ION (HF )
The most noticeable feature of the
3320-86, (aside from its sheer
size), is the Hi-Flotation main frame
running gear and steering system.
Bourgault has incorporated a
hydraulically assisted wagon-style steering design for safe
and predictable tracking behind the tractor during field use
or transport. The 3320-86 has large 800/65R32 front
tires on its main frame, 540/65R24 on the inner and outer
front caster wheels and dual 16.5 x 16.1 rear tires provide
outstanding flotation during seeding and good handling in
transport. (HF is an available option on the 60', 66', and
76' PHDs and the 3710 60' for 2014. Go to page 11 for
further details on the 3320 Hi-Flotation units.)

3320 QDA ParalinkTM Hoe Drill
The 3320 QDA frame is hydraulically
adjusted. Its adjusted position is
maintained with a shim assembly.
Hydraulic/shim assemblies are located
on both the QDA's front caster wheels
and rear carrier wheels.
Similar to the 3320 SE, the 3320 QDA is
equipped with PHD Seed Openers mounted
on a durable and well-engineered frame.
Where the 3320 QDA sets itself apart is in the
incorporation of a frame height adjustment
system which provides you with the ability
to adjust seeding depth with speed and
convenience that you never expected with an
independent depth seeding system. The 3320
Quick Depth Adjust configuration is unique in
the market, as it is the only independent depth
drill that allows you to change your seeding
depth easily in minutes.

This feature is made possible by the 2:1 contouring ratio of the PHD
Seed Opener Assembly. A change in frame height will produce a
change of half as much in seed depth. To capitalize on this, the 3320
QDA is equipped with a hydraulic cylinder and shim assembly on each
front caster wheel and rear carrier wheel. To set the seed depth at the
frame, these cylinders are extended to lift the frame and shims are
slid in, or out of position. Once the shims are set, the cylinders are
retracted back into operational position. The 3320 QDA provides ten
shims, each shim equals 1/8" of seed depth adjustment for 1-¼" of total
quick depth change range. Seeding depth can still be set on the PHD
Seed Opener Assembly to achieve the optimal location for best use of
the quick depth range, and for adjustment of individual openers that
operate in wheel tracks.
Frame height adjustments will affect the operational depth of the
MRBIIIs by a factor of two in comparison to the seed openers, as
they are fixed stationary to the frame of the 3320 QDA. A ¼" change
of seed depth for the opener will produce a ½" depth change for the
MRBs. A change in MRB depth is not as critical as with seed openers,
but should still be realized by the operator and adjusted if required.

Every farmer knows that
achieving the right seed depth
for a given crop and current
conditions is critical for optimal
germination. The hassle of
setting an independent depth
seed drill seems to encourage
producers to find a “close-
enough” seed depth that is
an average of the range of
optimal seeding depths for
various crops and conditions.
Bourgault recognized this trend
as a detriment to the producer's
bottom line and endeavored
to offer a better solution. The
result is the 3320 QDA---the
only independent hoe drill with
convenient and effective seed
depth setting.

is designed to deliver good
contouring characteristics, excellent
penetration and consistent results in
a wide range of seeding conditions.
Another benefit of the 2:1 contour

rough soil surface on the packer
wheel. For every inch that the
packer wheel moves, the seed
opener will move ½", resulting in
consistent seed placement even
with challenging residue,

To make seed depth adjustment as convenient as possible on the
3320 XTC, Bourgault incorporated a spring retained depth setting
system for quick and repeatable depth setting across the whole
unit.
Qu i ck Hyd rau l i c Response
The 3320 PHD utilizes a 1-¼" diameter cylinder for quick lifting in
the headlands and reduced hydraulic demand.
L and Fo l l ow i ng Pa ra l i n k TM Con t r o l
The Paralink™ design maintains the attack angle of the opener in
the ground as the opener follows the ground profile, resulting in
consistent soil flow and superior seed placement.
For every 1" of vertical movement of the packer wheel, the seed
opener also travels 1" thereby maintaining seed depth accuracy as
the XTC opener seeds through rough terrain that varies by plus or
minus 8" over the depth of the drill.
Supe r i o r P i s t on Sea l s
The hydraulic cylinder is equipped with double u-cup piston seals
which offer excellent protection from wear and damage that may
cause internal leakage.

Packer/gauge wheel and seed shank move together when depth is set.
If the packer/gauge wheel moves down, the seed shank follows the same vertical distance.
Changes to the vertical frame height do not affect the position of the seed shank.

Spend more time in the field and less time greasing. Bourgault
incorporates high performance teflon impregnated composite
bushings on chrome pins to ensure a long service life without the
hassle of greasing.
Cho i ce o f Seed Opene r s * (Narrow Openers Recommended)
The XTC seed opener design guarantees consistent seed knife
angle relative to the ground, regardless of its position. Equip your
XTC with a narrow seed knife to achieve accurate placement even
at shallow seeding depths (3/4" to 2" maximum single-shoot opener
recommended).
T i gh te r Opene r t o Packe r D i s t ance

When moving over smooth terrain, the seed boot will
follow the combined vertical movement of the cleaner/
packer wheel at a 1:1 ratio.
When going over rocks, stalks or uneven ground, for every
1" that the cleaner wheel adjusts vertically, the seed
depth moves only 3/8".
The advanced patented parallel walking coulter arm provides both accuracy and consistency in varying field conditions. The parallel link design, combined with the
walking axle cleaner/packer assembly delivers unsurpassed depth control and contour-ability. Expect consistent seed placement resulting in uniform emergence,
even in challenging field conditions.
1
For every 1" that the packer wheel moves vertically,
the seed depth moves only 5/8".
3 2
In less than ideal field conditions, seed placement results will be far superior in comparison to systems with the gauge wheel fixed to the side of the coulter.
The ultra-low disturbance of the 3710 Walking Coulter Arm allows you to increase your productivity and still achieve an excellent field finish. Owners of the 3710 ICD note that
they can typically seed at higher speeds while maintaining desired seed placement.

WALK ING COULTER ARM AS SEMBLY
To respond to changing soil and moisture
conditions, the packing pressure on each
individual opener can be conveniently set
“on-the-go” allowing you to adjust the packer
wheel downforce on each seed row from 70
to 230 lb*.
In the walking configuration, packing pressure
is shared 70% to the packing wheel and
30% to the cleaner wheel. Lock the cleaner
wheel into the "up" position to direct 100% of
packing force to the packer wheel.

Parallel Arms provide a consistent angle on the coulter’s presentation to the soil. This ensures the low disturbance scraper maintains a constant attack angle to the ground providing optimum seed placement. Each arm provides +9" & -7" of travel from nominal position for 16" of total opener travel.
20 -½" Cou l t e r
The large 20-½" diameter x .197" thick single bevel boron steel coulter has very good wear characteristics, yet maintains flexibility to minimize breakage. The coulter cuts through heavy residue to ensure consistent seed placement.

Wa lk i ng Ax l e
You have the option to engage the walking axle fixed link to lock the cleaner wheel up so the packer wheel alone sets the opener depth. This is done when additional packing force is required, or if there is concern of the cleaner wheel pulverizing the soil.

3710 Independent Coulter Drill (ICD)
REDUCED HA IRP INN ING
The 3710 ICD arm mounts the 20-½" disk
opener on a 5 degree horizontal and 10 degree
vertical compound angle. This provides better
cutting action through field residue and helps
reduce hairpinning in the seed rows.
LOW D ISTURBANCE SEED BOOT /SCR APER
The narrow profile Low
Disturbance Scraper provides
seed placement in a narrow
cut seedbed. The result is
an exceptional field finish that
preserves the maximum soil
moisture in order to foster germination.
The Winged Scraper provides
additional seed protection by placing
the seed away from the furrow created
by the coulter where hairpinning can
occur. Field finish is similar to that of
a hoe drill.
In addition, the Winged Scraper can be used to
separate seed and starter fertilizers. This ability can be
especially useful when seeding crops such as soybeans.
Soybeans are susceptible to phosphate damage when
higher rates of P are seed-placed. Placing the P off
to the side, and below the seed, eliminates the risk of
inoculation damage.
(Due to the force required for penetration, the winged
scraper is offered on 12" spacing only.)
WINGED SEED BOOT /SCR APER
OPT IMAL NUTR IENT PL ACEMENT
Placing the crops’ nitrogen requirements mid row
has proven to be the optimal location for a one-pass
seeding operation. Only mid row banding gives you the
peace of mind that your input investment is working to
increase your profit margin.

Hydraulic Actuation - MRBIIIs are raised & lowered hydraulically. This
feature makes the MRBIIIs convenient to lock up when not in use.
Double-Tapered Roller Bearing Hub - expect a long service life with
the high capacity hub and spindle assembly. A triple-lip seal protects
the hub bearing, and allows you to over-grease without seal damage.
The bolt-on hub and spindle can be quickly removed for exchange or
service.
Parallel Link Arrangement - the MRB body is mounted on parallel arms
for a consistent disk attack angle and seed boot/liquid tube orientation
regardless of its operating depth.
Maintenance-Free Coulter Arm Pivots - the MRB arm pivots on 1"
diameter nitride pins and 3" long greaseless composite fibre bushings.
The nitride pivot pins will stand up for the life of the seeding system,
even in hard or stony soils.
Long Wearing Coulter - the large 20-½" diameter single bevel boron
steel coulter is set at a 4.5° angle to open the soil just enough to
deposit the fertilizer. Boron steel disks provide excellent wear and
flexing characteristics.
Strong & Durable Cast Components - The MRBIII operates in the most
challenging agricultural environment without breaking or bending. Well
designed castings are machined to exact specifications.
Simple & Easy Depth Adjustment - shims on the hydraulic cylinder are
used for setting the depth (one ¼" shim = ½" depth). Extra shims are
stored on the top mounting pin for convenient access.
Floating Carbide Scraper - the floating inside scraper can be adjusted to
ensure a good furrow is maintained and the coulter stays clean in a wide
range of seeding conditions. The carbide edge will provide long service,
even in abrasive soils.
Scraper Position Adjustment - the position of the scraper relative to the
edge of the disk can be adjusted in fine 1/8" increments using plastic shims
located on the scraper shaft, or by loosening the mounting bolts to adjust
the whole scraper/boot assembly for coarse adjustment.
Combo-Boot - the versatile combo-boot allows you to select between, or
a combination of, dry, liquid, or anhydrous forms of fertilizer application. A
single 1-¼" diameter tertiary line is used for dry product delivery.
Scraper Pressure Adjustment - the pressure of the carbide scraper on the
disk can be easily set to match soil conditions for optimal results.

The outside closer tine (A) is designed to clean the outside of the
coulter allowing it to cut a clean groove in the soil. The closer tine
holds some residue against the disk to help keep it clean. If you
require less soil disturbance, the retaining wheel (B) utilizes a torsion

clean while holding down the soil adjacent to the groove made by
the coulter.

The goal behind the practice is to apply all of
the seed and fertilizer requirements in a single
operation without the seeding operation itself
incurring risk to the potential crop thereby
maximizing yield potential.
Key factors to consider are:
Seedbed Integrity–Never compromise seedbed
quality for a one-pass seeding operation.
Seeding systems that disturb the seedbed
and leave a rough field finish typically struggle
to place seed uniformly at the depth set by
the operator. The quality of the seedbed is
paramount to ensuring the best start for the crop.
Root Dominant Environment–Key to establishing
a strong and healthy crop stand is to foster a
root dominant environment in the soil. The more
that is understood and achieved to encourage an
extensive root system, the better the chances are
for the crop to take advantage of the nutrients
available.
Mid Row Bander® III
Bourgault seeding systems equipped with Mid Row Bander® fertilizer applicators are your best choice for achieving
the best emergence results in the widest range of seeding conditions. No other factor that is in your control is more
important for ensuring the most profitable yields at harvest time. The benefits of Bourgault Mid Row Banders include:
Seedbed Integrity–MRBs, coupled with narrow seed
openers allow you to create an effective seedbed in a
one-pass seeding system, ensuring even seed placement
and preserving soil moisture;
Guaranteed Separation (Placing your nitrogen and
sulphur fertilizer in the optimum location)–
MRBs guarantee separation of nitrogen and sulphur
fertilizer from the seed row regardless of fertilizer form,
rate or seed row spacing. Mid row application allows
the mobile nitrogen and sulphur to convert into the most
beneficial form for safe and timely access by the plants;
Versatility–MRBs work well with all forms of fertilizer,
or a combination of fertilizers, dry granular, liquid, or
anhydrous ammonia;
 Seeding Efficiency–MRB systems aid seeding
efficiency by allowing farmers to seed at higher
speeds than competitors in like conditions;
 Fuel Consumption–Coulter-style MRBs, paired with
narrow seed knives create much less draft than
competitor’s one-pass systems;
Ingenuity, Simplicity, Durability–Mid Row Banders are
designed, tested and built to the level of quality and
user-friendliness that is the hallmark of Bourgault
equipment.

FER T I L I ZER FORM & TOX IC I T Y
Fertilizer toxicity is an issue that is important for all farmers who use a one-pass seeding system, possibly an issue they
don’t realize is affecting them. Producers must gain a good understanding of the benefits and dangers of seed & fertilizer
placement to avoid an environment that is toxic to the crop.
Nitrification
All nitrogen fertilizer, once placed into the soil goes through
the process of nitrification. It is important for producers to
understand how this conversion takes place, and it’s effect
on the emerging seedling.
Nitrogen initially converts to ammonia, which is very toxic
to the seed and plant, and is not very mobile in the soil.
Risk of fertilizer toxicity is high if the seed(ling) is close to
the fertilizer row.
The ammonia then converts to ammonium, which is not
as toxic as ammonia, but can cause seedling damage and
impair plant development at a high concentration.
Ammonium then coverts to nitrate, which is the
safest, most effective form of nitrogen for robust plant
development. Nitrate is very mobile in the soil, and can
reach the seed row from the mid row band in as little as
two days*.
The length of the conversion process varies with specific soil types, temperature and soil moisture. Ideal moisture
and soil conditions will help minimize damage caused by closely placed fertilizer. But in more challenging years when
moisture is scarce, the risk of damage from nitrogen fertilizer increases dramatically.

Reducing compaction is important to ensure
that germination and plant growth is not
impeded. When fully loaded, the 7950
can weigh up to 99,000 lb. Compaction is
minimized with the use of six large 850/80
R38 tires. Each tire provides a large footprint,
especially when operating at an amazingly low
15 psi inflation pressure, front and rear. The
combination of very large 90" diameter tires
and low ground pressure gives the 7950 very
good flotation and minimizes draft loads--- key
factors when operating a tank of this size.

control effective and easy. Simply slide the guide
along the scale to the appropriate depth and
lock. Set, check, and adjust your seeding depth
in minutes!
EASY TO LEVEL
You are provided easy access to levelling locations.
Wrenches are provided for side-to-side adjustment at
the top of the depth control cylinders, and front-to-back

DEPENDABLE HYDR AUL IC SYSTEM
Bourgault tillage units feature a high quality single-series
depth control system and quality hydraulic components
for accurate and consistent depth control and long
service life.
Bourgault tillage units are designed with a single-
series master-slave system to control the operating
depth. This approach avoids the use of complex linkage
systems that wear and stretch, dramatically affecting
the depth control.
PREC ISE DEPTH CONTROL
A precision line lock valve helps ensure that working
depth never changes during operation. Bourgault’s
patented valve ensures any hydraulic leaks at the tractor
are isolated from the cultivator.

The 9400 uses a four row frame design to achieve good shank
spacing and non-compromising residue clearance. The trip
layout is designed to maximize clearance around the wheels.
Spacing between shanks is a minimum of 36"
Distance between adjacent bars is 32"
Frame to ground clearance is 31-½" with 1-¼" shanks.
These design features are all part of the winning formula for
superior straw clearance.
The unique three
point frame-to-
hitch attachment is
designed to more
uniformly distribute
the high horsepower
loads that today’s
tractors can place on a machine. The hitch is also
extra long (measuring 20' on five-plex models) for better
tracking in tough tillage conditions. Truss rod kits are
available when mounting a granular applicator tank.
EXCELLENT RES IDUE CLEAR ANCE
The Bourgault 9400 CP is designed
to be the cleanest, most effective
floating hitch chisel plow on the
market. The solid frame design
allows you to achieve even and
effective ground penetration in the
hardest soils.

The 9800 RHCP offers a number of shank spacing options
to meet your specific requirements.
The 9800 RHCP offers shank spacings of 8", 10", 12",
or 15". Each shank arrangement has been optimized
to provide excellent residue flow.
The four-row design allows more distance between the
sweeps and wheels to minimize plugging.
Optional stabilizer wheels are available to ensure even
penetration in high draft situations.
A H I TCH F I T FOR THE JOB
The rigid hitch on the 9800 RHCP is designed to withstand
extreme draft conditions in the most challenging tillage jobs.
Two 8" hitch side beams are fixed to the outside points
of the main frame for effective load transfer.
The center hitch beam will transfer all the load of a
towed cart directly to the tractor.
You can set the proper tongue height regardless of draw
bar height or operating depth.

The turret style unloading auger allows grain
to be placed accurately when cart to truck
alignment is less than perfect. It also makes
topping off a load a manageable task. With
a nearly horizontal turret unloading auger, the
operator also avoids the potential contact
between the auger housing and grain truck.
A combine, regardless of it’s colour,
is not very productive if it is sitting
in the fi eld waiting to unload. The
unique features of the Bourgault
1200 Grain Cart increases both the
effi ciency and capacity of your current
harvesting equipment in the widest
range of harvesting conditions.
Eight flotation tires on a double-walking axle assembly
(front to back and side to side) carry a full load at a
low 38 psi with maximum stability and allow fast travel
even in rough or wet fields. Choose from the 21.5L x
16.1 14-ply highway or lug style tires.
The designed loaded hitch weight of only 3,200 lb
creates less wear and tear on the tractor.
Working lights are standard for operator safety at night
and during transport.
The efficient truss design is more than strong enough
to take a full load through wet fields and uneven
terrain.
A unique soft start belt drive system is
used to engage the drag auger and ensure
smooth operation.

A Double Acting Cable design consists of cables linking
the wing booms to the front of the hitch to take the
working draft loads and a pair of cables at the rear of the

gives the operator the benefits of a cable and a solid draw
without any negative effects.
