Dear Parent/Carer

This College uniform guide will assist you and your daughter in understanding the College uniform requirements, how to care for the garments and the College Boutique Returns Policy.

If you are a new family to the College and purchasing items in the months or several weeks before your daughter commences, we suggest that you delay washing the garments until as close as possible to her commencement. This will allow your daughter to again try on the uniforms before she starts school, and if she has experienced a growth spurt, we can exchange items for the correct sizing. Please read the following document carefully so you can understand St Rita’s Uniform policy and procedures.

St Rita’s also has an Online Boutique store where you can purchase all uniform items 24/7. This allows parents/carers the opportunity to order from home and your daughter can collect the items from the Boutique the following trading day.

St Rita’s College Uniform Requirements

Page 4: Boutique ST RITA’S COLLEGE

The College uniform should be worn with pride and each student is expected to maintain high standards of personal appearance. As a community that works in partnership with parents/carers, we request that you support us in our policies. Please regularly check that your daughter is wearing her uniform in accordance with the regulations of the College and rectify any aspects that need attention.

Formal Dress (Years 7-12)The St Rita’s Formal Dress is to be worn to and from school every day by Years 7 to 12 students. The formal dress must be worn mid-knee in length at all times. As such, it will need to be re-hemmed as your daughter grows. The College Bike Pants are required to be worn under the formal dress every day. They are available in lycra and cotton. As cotton breathes better, many families choose this style for everyday use, and wear the lycra style with the sports uniform.

Lace up brown school shoes are required to be worn with the formal uniform. They should be polished regularly and worn laces replaced. Plain white turnover socks or brown tights are to be worn with the school shoes. These items may be purchased from the Boutique or from retailers.

Students who participate in sport during the day are required to change into their sport uniform during the break just prior to the lesson and change back into their formal uniform before they leave school. HPE lessons accommodate this during lesson time. The sports uniform is not to be worn to and from school.

Formal Skort and Blouse (Years 5-6)The St Rita's Formal Skort and Blouse are to be worn to and from school every day by Years 5 and 6 students, except on Physical Education days. The Formal Skort must be worn no more than 2.5cm above the knee at all times. As such, it will need to be re-hemmed as your daughter grows.

Lace up brown school shoes are required to be worn with the formal uniform. They should be polished regularly and worn laces replaced. Plain white turnover socks or brown tights are to be worn with the school shoes. These items may be purchased from the Boutique or from retailers. Years 5 and 6 students may wear their sports uniform to and from school on PE days only.

Formal Hat (Years 5-12)The Formal Hat is to be worn to and from school each day. The hat should be worn in good shape, with no rips in the straw and no fraying on the headband or brim. Parents are requested to label their daughter’s name on the hat at two points: 1) on the tag of the hat and, 2) under the fabric lining on the straw behind the hat band with a black laundry marker.

We request that parents not write names under the hat brim or anywhere visible. Not only does this detract from the look of the hat, but also imparts identity of your daughter to members of the general public when wearing the hat outside of the College.

Please ask your daughter to refrain from squashing her hat into her satchel or school bag, as doing so can break the crown of the hat. Cleaning instructions are provided within this guide.

TieThe College Tie is buttoned on each side under the collar. Years 5-6 students wear a plain brown tie. Years 7-9 students wear the yellow stripe tie and Years 10-12 students wear the white stripe tie.

Your daughter should only need one tie if it is removed before washing the dress/skort. The tie should receive a hand wash every month, or more often if required.

BlazersBlazers may be worn by students in all secondary Year levels. They are compulsory for Years 10-12 students in Terms 2 and 3 and for all formal events throughout each year.

Badges• Badges are to be worn on the point of the collar and on either side.• House Badge is worn on the left (handy hint: House is where your heart is). • College Badge is worn on the right (handy hint: Rita's on the right). • To ensure they don’t fall off, place the pin through the fabric twice before

closing the lock.

The Boutique sells Brown Tights all year and these may be worn with the formal uniform.

All items are non-compulsory.

Sport ShoesWhite soled, lace up joggers are required to be worn with all items of the sport uniform. They can be any style or colour, but must have white soles so as not to mark the playing surfaces.

The Boutique does not carry stock of sport shoes. These need to be purchased externally.

Swimming Togs and Water Polo Togs Students are required to wear the College Swimming Togs or Water Polo Togs for general water sports participation, along with the College Swimming Cap. A College Rashie is compulsory for all Years 5-7 students, however can be worn by any Year level. Students may wear the College lycra bike pants or College 3/4 leggings over their togs if they feel more comfortable.

After Swimming lessons or Water Polo games, it is recommended that your daughter keep her togs and cap on at the start of her shower as this allows the chlorine to rinse out. It is recommended that wet towels, togs and caps are placed in the College haversack or sports bag and not in your daughter’s regular school bag, to avoid wetting text books. Hair claws are available from the Boutique to put wet hair up and avoid wet uniforms.

Representative Swimming and Water Polo If your daughter represents the College in Swimming or Water Polo, the correct College togs and cap must be worn.

The wearing of bike pants or rashies is not permitted for competition Swimming or Water Polo.

The satchel is stored in your daughter’s locker at the end of each day, ready for the next school day. Please note that the velcro from the satchel may create pilling on the formal dress if the flap of the satchel is left open and allowed to rub against the uniform. It is recommended that parents/carers encourage their daughters to ensure the satchel flap is closed when being carried to avoid long term damage to the uniform. Returning Uniform Items It is recommended that you keep all uniforms in their packaging until as close as possible to your daughter needing to wear them, as you may want to exchange items if your daughter has changed sizes prior to wearing. Please do not wash or name any items until your daughter has tried them on again and you are confident that the sizing is correct.

If you would like to exchange any items, items must be returned, unworn, in the original packaging with all labels attached to enable the College to offer a size exchange.

It is recommended parents/carers read the College Uniform Policy located on MySRC > Our College and Community > Policies and Procedures.
