Introduction

The challenge: Develop a single technical innovation to significantly reduce the cost of Passenger Kilometres Travelled (PKT) per capita in Trinidad and Tobago by the year 2030.

Our solution: Metrocable Gondola Lifts!

• Type of aerial lifts supported and propelled by cables.

• Capacity between two (2) to sixteen (16) passengers per cabin.

• Travels at constant speeds between two (2) stations.

Implementation of a Metrocable Gondola Lift System in Trinidad

• Monocable Detachable Gondolas (MDG)

• Can be partially solar powered

• Towers have low space requirements

• Can achieve speeds up to 40 km/h

Benefits of implementing a Metrocable Gondola Lift System in Trinidad

1. Reduce travel time by approximately 45%

2. Produces low emissions approximately 50% less than buses

3. Approximately 66% cheaper to implement than other forms of mass transit

4. Low noise and high reliability

5. Can aid in the reducing the dependency of natural gas in Trinidad

6. Will provide job opportunities in both the Energy sector and Construction Sector

Benefits of implementing a Metrocable Gondola Lift System in Trinidad (cont’d)

7. Can cause a reduction in crime rates by

providing a much safer means of travel

8. Potential of implementing social facilities

at stations
