Peter Bohan & Mehboob Reza welcomed all attendees of the IOSH Qatar Branch Meeting and gave attendees a quick introduction, a venue safety briefing, inclusive of some other welfare arrangements.

Peter Bohan ran through the planned agenda, and welcomed the honorable presenters and volunteers for the evening and requested all the attendees/member to sign in IOSH attendance register.

IOSH Qatar Branch overview and updates/correspondences:

M.Reza presented the statistics of the Chartered Membership of IOSH that was achievement in the year June

2017 to April 2018.

IOSH Fact- Musculoskeletal disorder tools available on the IOSH web and as well as the Canadian Centre for

Occupational Health and Safety

IOSH Mentorship scheme was explained and attendees were encouraged to support this iniative in the State of

Qatar, going forward this year.

IOSH international news- Middle East Annual Conference will be held on the 25 April 2018 at Abu Dhabi, UAE IOSH Magazine- Overview for the month of April 2018

Thought of the day by Peter Bohan- “Find something to say that captures people’s imagination, be

committed, enthusiastic and never be silent. Never say my work is complete until it is over”.

Overview of the Presentation 1– By Mr. Peter Bohan (IOSH Qatar Branch- Chair)

“Overview of Sustainability& Rating System in Qatar”

Mr. Peter Bohan presented the key facts that influences change in the perception and understanding of

Occupational Health, Safety and well-being within Qatar; by improving the ability of its members to influence business leaders and identify innovative ways to improve behaviours that support an effective safety culture’.

Furthermore the following objectives were discussed:

To play a significant role in disseminating information corporately about the vision of IOSH across

the membership.

Drive the strategy to ensure employees are treated equitably and have appropriate safe systems

of work in healthy environments, where they don’t just work they thrive. Develop local IOSH champions who engage and influence their organisations vision and

become change agents.

Take the opportunity to develop a programme that is interesting, positive and influential to be

delivered every month. Remain focused on technology, workforce changes and support the development of our members.

Overview of the Presentation 2– By Mr. Brenton Phillips (IOSH UK HQ- International Relationship Manager)

“Professional development”

Skill Development Portfolio & EOA- The 3 Stage process of completing the IPD for the NEBOSH Dip OSH, IOSH Accredited Degree/Post Graduate Degrees and Cognate Degrees holders was delivered in a very

practical manner in line with the IOSH standard methodology and in a comprehensive manner i.e. step by step

techniques was shown to the members with one of the most recent & assessed SDP’s IOSH existing IOSH member.

IPD – EOA Assessment Process was also explained in a sequential manner for the in-depth understanding of

the methodology and its objectives.

Vital key advises how to maintain and pass the CPD audits and a successful completion of the PRI interview

panel members training to conduct the interview in the State of Qatar for the CMIOSH.

Overview of the Presentation 3– By Mr. Christopher John Daniels (QHSSE Director- ASTAD Project Mgmt) “By Integrating Your ISO Certifications”

Mr. Christopher (CJD) shared the significance of the Integrated Management System (IMS), a system that merge the components of business into one system. IMS implementation includes ISO 9001 Quality

Management, ISO 14001 Environment Management, Occupational Health and Safety Management OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001:2018 OHSMS, but not just limited to these standards. He explained that the integration is

a combination that consolidates the internal management practices into one system, therefore the system are

linked to form one integral part of the management system. An organizations need to take action for sharing tools, methodologies and systematic management of different areas, and to fulfil the different standard or

models governing the management systems.

Moreover CJD also shared the worth and benefits of an operational integrated approach that is known as the high level structure (HLS), ISO has introduced a common structure and core text for all its management system

standards. Using risk-based thinking throughout, it promotes a proactive approach to identifying risks and

taking opportunities making continual improvement systematically with the organization. This leads to improved governance and decision making and makes it easier to integrate multiple systems and achieve the Excellence

in Delivery by saving both time and money on the project.

Announcement of the newly Elected IOSH Qatar branch committee members-

Mr. Brenton Phillips honored the immediate past Chair, Vice Chair and committee members of the 2017-18 by awarding the certificate of appreciation on the stage.

Furthermore he took opportunity to announce the newly elected IOSH Qatar Branch Committee for 2018-

Finally Peter Bohan & M. Reza thanked all the attendees and Mr. Brenton Phillips for their attendance and the

meeting was closed at 20:45 hrs.
