It is a pleasure to welcome you to the branchoffice of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the DominicanRepublic. We hope you enjoy your visit. Thebranch complex is called Bethel, meaning “Houseof God.” This Biblical name is fitting, since thosewho live and serve here are Christian ministerswho have dedicated themselves to Jehovah God.They devote themselves full-time to supportingthe Kingdom-preaching work.

As you visit, you will notice that those servingin Bethel come from a variety of backgrounds.Nevertheless, they can truly be called a familybecause of their unity in serving their heavenlyFather. As a family, they work together, enjoymeals together, and study the Bible together.

Bethel family members also have a personalshare in the Kingdom-preaching work. Theyare assigned to various nearby congregations, where many of them serve as elders or ministe-rial servants.

Currently, there are about eight million Wit-nesses of Jehovah in some 239 lands, fulfillingJesus’ commission to preach the good news ofGod’s Kingdom. (Matthew 24:14; 28:19, 20) Toorganize this work, there are about 90 branchoffices worldwide—all serving under the super-vision of the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Wit-nesses.

The branch office in the Dominican Republicwas established in 1963. Later, the steadygrowth in the number of Jehovah’s Witnesseshere made it necessary to build larger facilities, which were dedicated in 1996. In 2008, the resi-dence and laundry facilities were expanded.
