ShieldAt the center of the crest is a shield in which the
dominant symbol is the cross of Jesus Christ. Blazing forth from the cross are rays of light which denote
Christ’s Resurrection.
Elements of the Crest
Crescent MoonThe crescent moon in the lower left
of the shield represents Mary to whom the school is dedicated.
Flowering LilyIn the lower right section is
the flowering lily, a traditional symbol of St. Joseph.
WavesThe four waves in the lower
section of the crest represent the waters of Green Bay.
These waves draw together the four alumni communities represented at Notre Dame
de la Baie Academy.
French LilyFlanking the shield on both sides is the fleur-de-lis, French lily, suggesting the French founding of both the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (St. Joseph
Academy) and the Order of Premontre (Norbertines). The fleur-de-lis also
reminds us of the French heritage of the Green Bay-De Pere area.
We are a Catholic, Norbertine community focused on developing the whole person. Service and character development, a sense of one’s contributions to the common good, and an expectation of behavior and choices that positively
reflect how God calls us to be are all part of the Notre Dame difference.
We believe the words “In Communio” best reflect who we are and can be used to accent our logo or crest.
“In Communio” encompasses the voices of the students, teachers, parents, staff, alumni and community members who value the development of the whole person, integrated within faith and among a strong community. “In
Communio” describes what we seek at Notre Dame Academy.
