We encourage our readers to
be thrifty cooks while teaching
them how to be creative through
flavours and presentation. Every
month, recipes+ delivers easy-to-

seasonal easy-to-find ingredients
that are budget friendly.
As Editor of recipes+ I continue the evolving
recipes+ story of showcasing fast, easy-to-prepare,
budget-driven recipes that will give our readers
something to cook, share and talk about!Amanda Lennon, Editor
recipes+ was first published in 2003
as a quarterly publication, printing
around 5,000 copies. It quickly grew
to a bi-monthly publication and then,
in 2008 recipes+ became a monthly
publication. That same year, recipes+
extended its audience and was
published in New Zealand.

REBECCA BALKIN, RECIPE
COORDINATOR
I’ve worked at Bauer Media on recipes+ magazine for just over two years, and The Australian Women’s Weekly FOOD magazine since June 2016. I love working in the publishing industry and have a passion for all things food. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of the most creative, intelligent, inspiring and experienced professionals in the industry, whose passion constantly excites me.
GEMMA HARLAND, RECIPE ASSISTANT
I grew up in a family that loved to celebrate with food and, at the age of 15, started working in a bakery, where my role was to assemble and decorate thousands of gingerbread houses. In 2013, I did a week of work experience with the recipes+ team – and fell in love with the business. I learnt how food was tested, plated and photographed, and even had my recipe published in the magazine! Three years later, I now work on recipes+ two days a week, while studying a Bachelor of Nutrition and Food Science at university.
LY N J UST IC E , C H I E F S U B -E D I T O R
An experienced copy editor, I’m a “foodie” who loves cooking and trying new flavours. I’ve edited a number of Australian Women’s Weekly cookbooks. I’m a former Chief Sub-Editor on Australia’s favourite magazine, The Australian Women’s Weekly and am also currently Chief Sub-Editor of the AWW FOOD magazine. My love of food editing began when, as a cadet journalist on my home town paper, I compiled the “Guest Hostess” column, where local identities shared their favourite recipes. Now, I edit recipes of beautifully photographed food that is enjoyed by thousands of readers right across Australia.
MENG KOACH, ART DESIGNER
I have over 10 years’ experience in publishing. I’ve worked on a wide variety of magazine and book titles, both in Australia and New Zealand, ranging from fashion, lifestyle, travel and food. I currently oversee the design and look of recipes+ and AWW FOOD magazine. Originally from New Zealand, I moved to Sydney for the surf and sun.
AMANDA LENNON, EDITOR My connection with food began over 30 years
ago when, after a week of boarding school
food, on weekends I would escape to my
mother’s kitchen and bake for the family. I
continued my journey by completing my chef
apprenticeship and travelling and working
with food for several years across the globe.
When I returned to Australia, I was lucky
enough to start employment with ACP, in The
Australian Women’s Weekly Test Kitchen. I
have been extremely fortunate to work in the
publishing industry, guided by the most
amazing mentors, whose sound advice and
encouragement constantly inspires and helps
propel my journey forward.
EDITORIAL PROFILESExpert editorial team
“When creating content for recipes +, I draw on
three main pillars in my life. My mother, whose
spice rack only contains ground cinnamon but
my mum can cook an awesome slow-cooked
corn beef; my sister, who is a confident cook,
although extremely time poor with three
ever-growing sons; and, my husband, who
is adventurous with flavours and rules the
barbecue grill! To me, the recipes + reader
is all of us! I not only speak to our readership –
I am the readership, being a working mum and
someone who loves a bargain. I aim to only
ever deliver content that shows readers how
to be thrifty with money and inspirational in the
kitchen. All ingredients used in the magazine
are easy to find and affordable.”

Deliciously
EntertainingEasy
With more than 1400 independently owned stores across Australia and a focus on fresh local produce, no matter where or how you celebrate life you’ll find
everything you need for easy entertaining this summer at your local IGA.
Each store has its own unique character, from the products sold through to the in-store team. Sitting at the heart of the local community, they source the best products from local producers and farmers. And because they’re run by families who live in the area, the decisions on which products to stock are
more likely to be made at home than in a boardroom.
So as you travel around our great land this summer, we invite you to come and discover the IGA difference. You’ll find stores run by friendly retailers, with a passion for great food, who are truly part of their local community, genuinely
valuing their relationships with their customers and their suppliers.
Entertaining is Easywith
Simply scatter mixed leaves and flowers down the centre of your dining
table then dress with fun Christmas decorations like baubles and stars.
Christmas Table Runner
Even though I’m super-busy in the lead-up to Christmas, I still make time to gather with family and friends. And I entertain A LOT. But even for me entertaining can sometimes seem, well, just too hard and too expensive.
That’s why I’ve partnered with the fresh food expertise of Australia’s largest network of independent supermarkets, IGA, to create the 15 beautiful 4 Ingredients recipes featured in this booklet.
So when time is of the essence – and it usually is – give these easy entertaining ideas a try. They’ll help you put on an impressive spread over Christmas and throughout summer, without breaking the bank!
With love and gratitude,
