2020 MEDICINE HAT ROTARY MUSIC FESTIVAL

BRASS/WW & Band Adjudicator: Bob Bailey

Bob Bailey has taught band for 37 years, at all levels including High School, Junior High, & Elementary. In that time, he has taught at Rocky Mountain House, Manning, & Camrose, where he has been for the last 32 years. Bob's bands have consistently earned Superior Band awards at the Alberta Band Association Provincial Festival of Bands, and have received high accolades over the years. In addition to concert bands at each grade level, his music program includes choral, jazz & chamber ensembles as well. He has acted as guest conductor/clinician at Sifton Summerfest, Grande Prairie Regional College Summer Band Camp, Adventures in Summer Music in Red Deer, and MusicCamp Alberta and is in demand as an adjudicator in music festivals throughout Alberta. In 2005, Bob was honoured by an invitation from the Alberta Band Association to conduct the Southern Alberta Junior High Honour Band. In 2009, he was co-recipient of the inaugural University of Alberta (Augustana) Fine Arts Achievement Award for contributions to the fine arts. He also received an Excellence in Teaching Award early in his career. In 2015 Bob was awarded the Canadian Band Association, Alberta Chapter (Elkhorn) Band Director of the Year Award. He is a member of the Alberta Choral Federation, the International Bandmasters' Fraternity Phi Beta Mu (Director), and the Alberta Band Association for which he has served on the Board of Directors for several terms. Bob plays trumpet in various ensembles in his free time - the Camrose & District Community Band where he occasionally fills in as director when needed, in the Battle River Big Band, and in the Simply Brass Quintet. He has served on the executive of the Camrose & District Music Festival Association as well as the Camrose and District Community Band, having acted as President in both organizations.

All performers should arrive at the venue 10 minutes prior to the start of their session. At the beginning of the Session, performers will check in with the Performer’s Secretary, and turn in the original, published music for the Adjudicator. Please be prepared to stay for the entire session and support the other performers within your session. Performers will perform in the order listed.

A special thanks to our Band Directors, Brass & Woodwind Teachers - we’re so grateful for the ways in which you invest in our kids!
