To make sure the MDP reflects our community, Council is asking you, the residents of the County, to get in-volved. Your involvement is key in setting out a clear and shared vision for the future development in the County. Join us in setting this vision from April 25-28 and have your say in the future of our County. Your feedback and partic-ipation is appreciated as we work towards making our County an even better place to live, work, and play.

INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS AN MDP?
WHY UPDATE THE MDP?The County’s MDP was last updated in 2011. Since then the County has grown to a population of 7,771 residents. This is an annual growth rate of 2%.
The updated MDP will provide a renewed vision for the County, and the regulatory framework to guide growth toward that vision.
The Municipal Development Plan (MDP) sets out the vision, goals and objectives for the future of Brazeau County. It’s important to regularly update this overarching document to ensure it still meets the needs of our community and maintains a high quality of life for current and future residents.

If the County continues to grow at a moderate growth rate of 1%, Brazeau County will be home to 9,482 people by 2036. This translates to 757 new dwellings in the County.
With this growth comes prosperity and we have to manage this development to ensure we create livable, healthy communities and protect what people love about this County. That’s why we are updating the County’s MDP, to make sure it reflects the current values of our com-munity and continues to facilitate growth.
INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF UPDATING THE MDP?
Phase 2 is the phase we are currently in. It will fo-cus on working closely with stakeholders to deter-mine how and where the County should grow.
Phase 3 will present the proposed policy direcion and show the public how the plan reflects the in-put that was gathered throughout all the phases.
Phase 4 will be the final draft of the MDP for Council approval. A public hearing will be held to offer the pulic another opportunity to provide public input.
There are 4 phases of the MDP Update. In each, there will be an opportunity for you to learn more, attend an event and provide feedback. Below outlines the 4 phases in more detail:
Phase 1 was completed in December 2016 and included the groundwork for the project such as background statistics, a survey and public engage-ment events.
