May 30th 4-H Office Closed for Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces fighting for our country’s freedoms. CELEBRATE and remember our fallen Hero's on May 30th!

Leadership Lab: Leadership Lab is scheduled for June 28th – 30th at The Texas A&M Univer-sity in Galveston!!! You must be 14 years old to attend. Register on 4-H Connect by May 15th. For more details go to the District 9 website. Cost is $255.00.

Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador Program: Every year a new
group of 4-H members become the Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassadors. This program is for high school aged children and teaches all facets of the livestock industry. The ambassadors will also be required to help put on clinics and help other youth learn about livestock. The Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador Program is an in-depth learning experience for selected youth to represent the agricultural industry in Texas.
Training includes a short course experience on the campus of either Texas A&M University or Texas Tech University. During training, more than 30 hours of rigorous instruction by university faculty, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Specialists, and County Extension Agents cover topics such as animal science principles, leadership, career development, and animal agriculture advocacy. Youth also learn the value of giving back to the community. The 2016 Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador short course will be held at Texas A&M University on July 18-21, 2016. Applications will be due June 1, 2016. Visit the Texas youth Livestock & Agriculture website for more information and to register.
4-H Recorbooks are due at the 4-H office by June 1!!! ALL information and forms needed for the record books can be found on the state website. In order to be a 4-H Star Awards candidate, you will need to turn in your Rec-ord Books. You will have to sign up for an interview time when turning in your books. The Star Award in-formation can be found out our website. Award inter-
views will be scheduled for June 2nd starting at 4:30 PM at the 4-H office.
Wise County Dog Show in Decatur Texas, May 14, 2016. It is open to 4-Hers ag-es 18 and under. Dogs will not have to be validated. Here’s a good way to find out if showing dogs is something you want to do. This will most definitely be a fun

Council meetings are opportunities to advance your leader-ship knowledge and skills. Everyone is welcome; club offic-ers are highly encouraged to attend. Council Elections will be held this meeting so choose wisely on who will be representing you. Refreshments will be provided.

Texas Nursery & Landscape Association is offering Scholarship program for the 2016-2017 school year. If you are a student who is studying programs related to the nursery and landscape industry please visit the TNLA website and download the 2016-2017 TNLA Edu-cation and Research Foundation scholarship. We will be discussing important material to help with club programming, working with fellow volunteers, and helping grow our youth in Brazoria County! Save the Date! The Gulf Coast Classic and will be held on August 6th, 2016 at the Brazoria County Fairgrounds. Start looking forward to educational presentations including sessions offered for beef cattle, swine, sheep and goats. The plan is to
have three sessions per species and then one general session. Door prizes will be given throughout the sessions as well. The educational sessions will be held from 9-12 and showmanship clinics starting at 2PM. The show will begin promptly at 3PM.
We will run separate show rings for the cattle and sheep and goats to save time. The rule book and more specifics are being finalized now so be looking for those
items next month.
If you have special needs for any of the programs offered at the County or District level, please give us 10 days’ notice. We will
make every reasonable effort to accommodate your needs.
Want to be apart of opening ceremonies and be a 4-H representative for the livestock shows at the 2016
BCFA?!?! We are looking for national anthem singers, pledge leaders, and flag holders.

Gulf Coast Classic August 6th, 2016
Will be held at the Brazoria County Fairgrounds – May 14, 2016. This is the
perfect opportunity for you to show your stuff or get some practice. This
playday is open to anyone who wants to attend, including adults. 4-H or non-
4-H members are welcome to join the fun. This is not part of the Brazoria
County 4-H Horse Show Point Series so there are not the same rules and
guidelines. Ride any horse you like, and play around with us for the day.
Books open at 8:00 am, playday begins at 11:00. For more information,
view the flyer or contact Dona Spillars 979-319-0585. Registration form
and fees will be due day of the show.
Age divisions: 8 & Under, 9-13 yrs, 14-18 yrs, and 19 & Over Exhibitions will be run from 8:30-10:30. Lead Line will start promptly at 11:00am
