It has been observed reportedly thatup to half a million females in America haveundergone this form of plastic surgery. Thisdefinitely has paved way for the cosmeticsurgeons to make it big. Nowadays, more that a want, it is a craze! Breast implants have seen a surge inthe demand after FDAs approval. And with this cosmetic surgeons also have allthe good reasons to be happy by making more money. Breast implantsdefinitely contour your breasts and enhance the body curve. But, it has also beenobserved that these shield the inner tissues while taking x-rays and also causedamage or breaking of the tissues internally. Besides other problems, the mostworrisome disadvantage of this form of plastic surgery is that the implant(whether silicon or gel) shields the inner tissues from being detected by theradioactive rays. This hinders the early detection of cancer among theprospects.

Diagnosis of cancer becomes an issue based on the placing of the implant. If itis placed below the chest, then the results of mammography arerelatively better than those obtained underthe circumstances when placed above thechest. But still, you would not get 100percent visibility through the breasts asalready mentioned; these implants areradioactive proof to a great extent. And somost of the times there is a higher degree ofobscurity in the results of mammography! Having said so, still most of thewomen are inclined towards this surgery. It is advisable for them to be carefulby consulting the doctor frequently for routine check up and taking out MRIevery 2 years or so per the recommendations of the doctor.

Although with advanced technology, things are improving it is better to becareful with such treatments.
