War on Waste
Did you know Approximately 8 million tonnes of plastic enter our oceans each year and by 2050 it is projected that there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish Itrsquos statistics like these that have kick-started the Science Enrichment students into action to identify ways in which Brentwood Primary School can be a part of the War on Waste and be more sustainable The students have been collecting data on the packaging most frequently used in lunchboxes and have also suggested that the Brentwood Primary School Canteen becomes straw-free and plas-tic cutlery-free We are seeking feedback from the School community regarding this and thoughtssuggestions are welcomed The current plan is to use donated metal cutlery (forks dessert spoons tea spoons and bread knives) which will be washed in the Canteen after each use whilst straws will no longer be provided to students (as metal or paper alternatives are not within current budget constraints)
Parents can provide reusable straws for their children if necessary
Your support in our quest to pave the way for a more sustainable future is greatly appreciated

Keep saving for a chance to win a family trip to Hawaii
It has been great to see all our new bankers along each Monday Remember to come along each week - when you reach 15 deposits you are automatically in the draw for the family trip to Hawaii
Last week our year 1 3 amp 5 students attended lsquoStart Smartrsquo - a financial education workshop designed to make learning about money fun and give students the confidence to make smart deci-sions about money from a young age Regular school banking is a great way to reinforce the habit of saving in a fun and interactive way
