Brett Thompson and team ticking down to Truck Series race in Fontana Camping World West Series regular making first of three Truck starts in 2009 JEROME, Idaho (Feb. 18, 2009) – To say NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitor Brett Thompson is counting down the days, hours and minutes until Saturday’s race at Auto Club Speedway in California wouldn’t be a metaphor. All one has to do is log on to his website www.brettthompsonracing.com for virtual – and literal – validation. The proof is right there at the top of the page. Matter of fact, it’s on every page of the site. Thompson, 31, is looking to make his fifth career NCWTS start and first of the 2009 season. The regular competitor in the NASCAR Camping World West Series made one Truck Series start last year, at Phoenix International Raceway finishing 21 st . In 2007, he made three starts with a best finish of 25 th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Now, with a little more knowledge and experience under his belt, Thompson is hoping to improve on his previous marks. The team will enter their No. 61 Rich Thompson Trucking, Inc. /Windmill Inn & Suites Dodge in three NCWTS races this year. WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT THE TRUCK SERIES: “The way our team is structured, we can compete in the Camping World Truck Series. We couldn’t do it in the Nationwide or Sprint Cup Series, so the trucks are the way to go. The competition is great, the racing is awesome and I get to compete against some of the best drivers in NASCAR. “When you’re on a track with the likes of Ron Hornaday, Mike Skinner, Todd Bodine and Johnny Benson; you can’t help but learn. I don’t get to race against them every week, so I have to take advantage of it when we do race against them.” GOALS FOR THE RACE: “Like any smart driver, you want to take care of your equipment and bring it home in one piece. The other is to earn the respect of my fellow drivers because we are planning on competing against them two more times this year. As a driver myself, I know they have just as good of a memory as me. “I’d like to have our Dodge finish the race and it would be even better to do that on the lead lap. That’s something we have been able to do only once, so far, so doing it again would be a nice building block for the rest of the year.”

FIRST TIME AT THIS TRACK IN THE CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES: “Yeah, we talked about that and figured we’d learn more by going to new venues this year. With a two-mile track like the one in California, we’re looking forward to seeing what it’s going to be like. I’ve been running the Camping World West Series Monte Carlo there for years, but they are lower to the ground than the Trucks. We’re prepared to make any and all changes needed, but hopefully we won’t need to make many – hopefully.” (Brett has five starts CWWS starts at ACS, all top-10 finishes) Lonnie Rush, Jr., Crew Chief: “The team has put a lot of work and care into building this Dodge Truck and I’m looking forward to seeing what it will do in California. Like Brett said, we haven’t raced the NCWTS at California before, but I know the engine has to be just right for those long straight-aways. Thank goodness we have Arrington Engines in our truck. The set-up for the turns is very important, too, so we’ll be working on all those aspects during the important practice sessions. Once the race starts, it’s all about track position and pit stops. We’ll do our best to do the best we can and get a good finish. I’m pretty confident about our driver, team and truck.” Fast Facts: The team will be using Truck No. T-101; last run at Phoenix International Raceway to a 21st place finish. Did you know: Brett’s wife, Brooke, is an artist and he supports her endeavors in his off time. Tune in for the Win: Qualifying takes place at 4:40 p.m. (ET)/1:40 (PT) on Friday with race action at 3 p.m./Noon on Saturday. You can see the laps tick down on FOX-TV and hear them on MRN Radio and SIRIUS/XM Radio Ch. 128. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
