Presentation Notes
Unisys over the last 5 years has developed revolutionary technology. ClearPath is our mainframe technology and Stealth is an advanced security and segmentation software. Back in 2010, we delivered the first ClearPath system on Intel Xeon technology. We are delivering a mainframe experience on standard server technology and, with ClearPath Forward, it provides a mainframe experience for Windows and Linux to enable ClearPath clients the ability to extend into the standard world. This year we completed the migration to an all Intel mainframe. In 2012, we introduce the first commercial Stealth Appliance, a year later Stealth Mobile and expanded to support more devices and operation systems like AIX in 2014. This year we are redesigning Stealth to take us into the next 5 years and beyond. This technology has broad appeal but we want to take it one step further. Stealth Definition: Advanced Security and Segmentation Software Expanded OS and Devices: Stealth now supports AIX operating system (in addition to Windows and Linux). Stealth Secure Virtual Gateway (SSVG) is a clear text gateway that enables operating systems such as Unix, Mainframe OSs such as IBM zSeries and devices such as printers to participate in Stealth secured / segmented environments.

Presenter
Presentation Notes
One of our clients is seeing the benefits of the ClearPath capabilities. A large multi-billion dollar global banking organization is piloting the mobile capabilities of ClearPath through ePortal. Their goal was 4000 secure mobile transactions per second and had doubts they could reach that level. We implemented ePortal and delivered 100% increase in the mobile transaction goal to 8000 secure mobile transactions per second. With the explosion of mobile now and projected into the future, Unisys is positioned to help our customers deliver a scalable mobile experience. Client Challenge How to effectively process large volumes of mobile transactions to support new business demands? Successfully tested our facial recognition solution at Dulles Airport for the Customs and Border Protection agency

For a large state government, Stealth consolidated 52 Datacenters to 1+DR eliminating ~60% of firewalls for implemented agencies

Successes Uncommon results from Unisys Technology

Mobile development technology securely supporting 9 million users

Presenter
Presentation Notes
In 2015, Unisys delivered the technology for our clients and providing uncommon results. ClearPath Forward hit a milestone this year by delivering the high performance 8300 series completing the journey to the all Intel Clearpath Forward System. This year we also released a software edition of ClearPath Forward operating environments. This enables our clients to develop and test ClearPath Forward applications on standard hardware and provides a personal version free of charge to help new developers learn the ClearPath Forward environments. Unisys is enabling one of our clients to deliver approximately 9 million mobile users to pay their water bills. With mobile traffic growing exponentially, our technology called ePortal brings high scale to the mobile development worlds. On the theme of high scale, Data Exchange was just released. It is a real-time ETL tool for ClearPath and Microsoft SQL. This enables data to be available to data warehouses and processes simultaneously as the system processes. Later this year, ClearPath Forward is extending the standard environment with new software defined capabilities called secure fabrics. This isolates network traffic from compute through storage delivering quality of service and increase security. This VLAN type capability eliminates the security risk of VLAN configurations with out of band security. Unisys technology is not all about ClearPath Forward. We redesigned Stealth to be cloud ready for mobile, on premise and cloud market place type deployments. Your cloud workload can be stealth enabled for increased security between VMS. We implemented Stealth in a large state government and it helped consolidate 52 datacenters into 1 with a DR site. This eliminated ~60% of the firewalls for the implemented agencies. A real life Stealth success. In our Federal practice, we successfully tested our facial recognition solution at Dulles Airport for the Customs and Border Protection agency. Dulles is one of the nations busiest airports and if implemented, will help to keep airport customers safe.

Unisys ClearPath Investment Pillars

Transition to Standard Intel • Successfully migrated from proprietary to standard Intel • Delivered hundreds of new Forward nodes to simplify the ClearPath Ecosystem • Organizational efficiency leveraging standard technology with mission critical capabilities

New Tools for Rapid Application Development • Delivered new tools like E-Portal, Data Exchange and Eclipse to expand the resource

availability • Mitigate strained resources • Rapid development environments to speed development and deployment

Software Defined Datacenter • Delivering ClearPath Forward as a software environment • Greater deployment flexibility and options to deliver mobile, web and modern applications • Realizing the software defined datacenter vision

Fundamental Investment Areas for Innovation

Presenter
Presentation Notes
A key part of our technology strategy is the evolution of ClearPath platforms to become an integral part of the modern Software-Defined-Data Center. With that goal in mind, we transitioned our proprietary hardware technologies to a software layer executing on x86 Intel. ClearPath had to become part of the mainstream in the datacenter. As of May 2015, all ClearPath platforms from entry level to premium high-end are now based on an open x86 Intel infrastructure. This has also allowed us to expand ClearPath capabilities further into the open space, bringing the capability of tightly integrating Enterprise Windows and Linux applications with our MCP and OS 2200 operating systems. The benefit to our clients is that ClearPath technologies now have an infrastructure base stretching far into the future allowing us to concentrate our efforts on our world class operating systems and software and offering you protection in the investment you have made in ClearPath over the years. Information Technology is very different than it was just a few years ago with new digital requirements and increased time to market demands. ClearPath offers advanced capabilities addressing today’s reality and tomorrow’s requirements. Mobility solutions are enabled by our ePortal solution to securely extend applications to millions of mobile users using standard Microsoft development tools (Visual Studio). Real time data access feeding industry leading analytics solutions are now enabled by our Data Exchange solution to deliver data faster. Most importantly, ClearPath delivers new capabilities based on widely accepted standard development environments all addressing skills retention, growth, and productivity to deliver rich applications for faster time to value. Unisys is committed to the software defined datacenter and we have been on that journey for a decade. To migrate Clearpath, we set the groundwork for a software defined version of ClearPath and we delivered it earlier this year. We are extending the security and scalability attributes of ClearPath to Windows and Linux with our Forward capabilities. ClearPath has always been focused on those applications that are critical to your business and ClearPath Forward now offers a very wide range of flexibility in software solution deployment for IT environments.

Unisys is also enabling a more predictable infrastructure experience. We are delivering the an enhanced ClearPath Forward experience with new secure fabrics to support Quality of Service of the new Data Exchange capability for simultaneous posting of transactions from ClearPath database and Microsoft SQL. No more batch processing of stored CP data. We are also releasing OS 2200 clustering to increase scalability of ClearPath systems and a Software series to support ClearPath in Cloud environments. In 2016, we are developing what we are calling the Steel Cloud. This capability is designed to enable a software defined datacenter for secure compute, modern mobility, application portability and “As a Service” enablement. Beyond 2016, we are addressing the application life cycle with Smart Deploy. This enables application and security awareness for automated configuration and provisioning. Presenter
Presentation Notes
Our clients are seeking to simplify the “engine room” of IT to make hybrid computing and cloud delivery simple. They want to be able to flexibly re-configure traditional computing resources such as compute, network and storage – and eliminate the need for many time-consuming, labor-based activities such as network and firewall configuration. This is where the concept of the Software Defined Data Center (or SDDC) fits in. By adopting software-defined principles – where software rules are used to perform this dynamic configuration of computing resources – our clients can implement a single, software-defined management approach across all environments. Key Points The SDDC also represents the evolution of cloud computing from public and private clouds, to Hybrid IT and a more highly-distributed, highly-virtualized, software-defined environment. The main goal of SDDC is to deliver greater business value than traditional, more manual processes and scripts by increasing the agility and speed of infrastructure through policy-based automation of processes.
