Brick Slips 22mm Brick Slips are supplied by a number of established brick manufacturers across Europe. Each Slip has a positive Key incorporated, which helps the bonding to the concrete. These can be Pre-Pointed within the mould.

Cut Bricks Where slips are not suitable cut bricks are used, a positive key is formed either by using the bricks own perforations or by cutting a dovetailed slot into the back of a solid brick. These will need to be Post Pointed.

Advantages .

• Brick-faced cladding panels can be manufactured in large sizes; typically grid width x storey-height this has a positive impact on both the cost and speed of enclosure which is probably at least 10 times that of hand-set brickwork

• Reduced site programme, therefore reduced site prelims. • Weather tightness of the building can be achieved much quicker. • High-rise buildings can benefit from having a traditional appearance without the use of scaffolding.

• Accurate off-site manufactured components. • Greater Quality control. • Very low maintenance costs and Life Cycle costs. • Reduction in number of site movements and a tidier safer environment. • Reduction of Waste. • Precasting also offers the designer more scope, in that anti-gravity features can be pre-moulded, negating the need for cumbersome secondary support on site.

• Complex features such as arches can be provided avoiding the use of centres and site cutting and fitting.

• As with all precast cladding, windows, doors etc can be included. • Panels can be pre-insulated. • Multiple finishes available in each panel. • Compared with a conventional brick/block cavity wall, Brick faced precast concrete cladding can offer a reduced overall cladding zone resulting in a greater net lettable area.
