Clement Coulston and Chris Coulston, Keynote Speakers Successful transition outcomes hinge on the strength of the partnerships between students, all school professionals and families. Transition is an interconnected journey between these three major role players, instead of just a yearly endeavour. With high expectations and support, equitable communications and student engagement, the key to a successful career pathway starts when a student learns about transition early and often. Through perspective@taking, you will learn the importance to embrace and develop the student voice. Young people of all abilities can lead today and tomorrow! With authentic empowerment and engagement, students can be the maestros of their own transition journeys. Through the support of adult allies, students need real@life opportunities to grow, practice and enrich their individual life goals, before they exit the school system. Christopher and Clement, the Coulston brothers, will share their unique stories in how they have evolved as self@ advocates. When Christopher teaches educators and students how he leads the planning of his own future, he demonstrates the importance and necessity of being self@determined. With Clem experiencing a life@changing event, his perspective on what it means to be engaged and valued has changed vastly. The power of supporting a young person is not just about helping ‘them’ to succeed @@ it is about ‘us;’ the ‘we,’ in transition. When students are empowered to lead, they in turn, teach us and inspire us.
