Patricia Martinez Patricia Martinez (b. 1973) is an active internationally awarded Argentinean/Spanish composer, interdisciplinary artist, pianist and art researcher. Her works has emerged, in part, from an experimental process of 'stripping-down,' which involves a degree of risk-taking, in that the resulting music is left somewhat vulnerable in terms of its expressive identity. She created works for vocal and instrumental ensembles, soloists, chamber orchestra, interdisciplinary projects, electroacoustic and mixed pieces. Her works was performed by talented performers such as Arditti String Quartet, C2, SurPlus Ensemble, Seth Josel Trio, The Jack String Quartet, ACME, Compañía Oblicua, Cepromusic Ensemble, Quinteto Latino, Fractus, LV, Kaparilo, De Ereprijs. Her works received distinctions and prizes at international competitions including First Prizes at Buenos Aires City Government Arts Competition (life grant); Casa de las Américas/House of America 2015 First Prize (Cuba), 2015 International Music Theatre Competition / Staatstheater Darmstadt / Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt (IMD) ; International Young Composers' Meeting , First Prize, 1997 (Gaudeamus-Holland); Francisco Kröpfl First Prize /SADAIC (Argentina Society of Music Composers and Authors); IBERMUSICAS-IBERESCENA First Prize ; National Composition Competition Juan Carlos Paz First Prize; Toda La Data Competition First Prize; Diffusion (University of Limerick-Ireland); TRIME-TRINAC; TRINARG; SonoImagenes Competition (Argentina); Residence Prix at the International Competition of Electroacoustic Music /Bourges (France); Pierre Schaeffer International Competition of Computer Music (Italy); 60 seconds Piano Composition Competition/ParisNewMusicReview; American Prize 2013 (USA); Maurice Ravel Prize for orchestra composition, 2015 (Italy). She worked at the electroacoustic Studios: LIEM (Madrid), GMEB, IRCAM, CESARE (France), CCRMA (U.S), ARTE11, UNQ. Highlights includes the premiered of interdisciplinary diptych “Breve sueño ” commissioned and produced at the Experimental Center of Colón Theater (CETC, BA) with four sold out performances and successful reviews; and the premier of “Más allá” at the Place of Fine Arts (México DF) by Iber-dance/Music. She is member and organizer of FASE (non-profit organization of artistic policies, since 2001. She was jury member at the National Composition Competition Juan Carlos Paz (FNA ). She holds a Doctoral and a Master degree in Music Composition from Stanford University . She studied at the Municipal Conservatory of Buenos Aires, Quilmes University and completing the Annual Course in Computer Music (IRCAM , 1996/97). She taught composition at Stanford University; National Conservatory of Lima, University of Costa Rica, Quilmes University and currently at her Workshop on Composition and interdisciplinary creation with the support of The National Found of Arts.
