Information Note – Standard Provision• WiFi Internet Connectivity - use IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac or

above network in a standard classroom. The minimum number of classrooms to be covered should be at least equal to the number of approved classes for the 2016/17 school year.

• Number of Concurrent Connection - commensurate with the maximum number of students, say 40, in a class with at least 1 Mbps upload / download bandwidth per user connection for browsing web pages.

• Authentication Method - use Hong Kong Education City accounts for authentication to save the effort for device registration.

School Case• At least covering all classrooms of EDB approved number

• Mobile AP is not acceptable, all those classrooms should be WiFi connected

• Each WiFi connection should have at least 1 Mbps upload and download speed, total bandwidth shall evenly distributed among number of connections

• Suggest school to adopt 2.4GHz or 5GHz according to the environment

Information Note – Standard Provision• Session Control - allow multiple devices per user

account to be authenticated using Hong Kong Education City.

• Internet Content Filtering Service - based on filtering profile commonly adopted by most schools.

• Existing Network Facilities - not rely on any existing network facilities and cabling of the schools, nor interfere with the existing WiFi network of the schools.

• Existing Broadband Network – Use the existing broadband link for the WiFi service.

School Case

• Contractor shall advise school if existing Conduit / Cable / Trunk / Switch / AP of the school can or cannot be technically feasible for use

• Schools may have other construction work or activities during summer vacations, that may interfere with WiFiconstruction work, detailed project schedule should be agreed once Contract confirmed

Information Note – Standard Provision• Managed Service - operate the WiFi network using

managed service model, provide end-to-end service including provision, monitoring and maintenance service.

• Service Level Agreement - ensure at least 99.7% availability of the WiFi service, support four-hour response time and four-hour service recovery with active monitoring, helpdesk support with support hours from Mon to Sat 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, and provide monthly monitoring reports for School.

Information Note – Add-on Service• WiFi Coverage - to include special rooms and open areas

• Broadband Service - provide broadband service with at least 100Mbps Internet connection at school and allowing upgrade to 1Gbps

• Authentication - user account system being used by school

• Session Control - allow single device per user account or other arrangement to be authenticated if using Hong Kong Education City accounts

• WLAN System Access Control - provide MAC address filtering mechanism, pre-shared key mechanism, etc.

Wi-Fi.HK Service• It is outlined here for schools’ reference and consideration on

the related service requirements.• Authentication - landing page with Wi-Fi.HK logo, terms and

conditions and disclaimers but no registration/login is required for use of Wi-Fi.HK; users can use the free Wi-Fi service after accepting the terms and conditions in the landing page

• Content filtering - can also apply to Wi-Fi.HK though it is not mandatory

• Integration - the network for supporting Wi-Fi.HK shall be isolated from the School’s network without direct access; connections via Wi-Fi.HK shall have access to the Internet only

• Helpdesk - service provider will provide hotline service and contact email for public enquiry of its service

Remarks - UAT• 4.9 User Acceptance Test•

• 4.9.1 The Contractor shall conduct tests with the School before the service is officially accepted and subscription started. Tests shall include User Acceptance Test for reliability and performance of the hardware and software, and also the monitoring, operation support and all other aspects related to the Service Level Agreement of the Service. At least 14 school working days of trial period is expected for service monitoring after testing.
