The U.S. Military offers more than 2,000 courses at more than 150 military schools throughout the U.S. and abroad annually
In the fiscal year 1998 alone, more than 7,000 international students were trained at U.S. Army installations
From 1894 to 1998, more than 6,000 officers from 142 countries completed the Command and General Staff College course at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Twenty-three have become Heads of State, almost one-half (1/2) have attained the rank of General, and more than 300 have held high ranking positions within their countries
There are currently 90 officers with 146 dependents from 77 different countries enrolled at CGSC. Also, Fort Leavenworth hosts 9 SAMS Fellows (School of Advanced Military Studies), 14 Liaison officers, and 5 exchange officers along with their dependents

A. Orientation – Sponsored by the International Office Student Division and lasts three to five days. During this time each officer is interviewed. The following information is exchanged:– One copy of International Travel Order is obtained and
reviewed for accuracy with officer– Copy of insurance information to include insurance cards
obtained– How appointments are obtained– Specifics to our MTF– Health concerns for officer or family members– School/day care physical exam forms provided– CHCS (Composite Health Care System) input form completed– Pregnancy policy discussed
B. CHCS input – Every officer and dependent is entered into the CHCS database. Notes are taken on information still needed

C. Registration – Hosted by the International Office Student Division. All officers and dependents have official pictures taken and are provided information from various activities on/off post (public and private school systems, day care, post office, financial, law enforcement, healthcare, etc.)
Note: This is my opportunity to clarify/obtain any information needed
D. Finalize CHCS database and create file folders for each family

The Security Assistance Office on post sends me an updated listing of officers. It includes their country, rank, name, office location and phone number, and the dates of arrival and departure
The Security Assistance Office also directs each new officer to visit my office and provide me with required data to obtain healthcare from this MTF
