Sherri and Chelsi of A Quilting Life are a mother daughter team living in southern Nevada. Sherri is mar-ried and the mother of four children. Inspired by a rich family heritage of generations of women who love and loved sewing and creating, Sherri began to sew when she received a sewing machine for her tenth birth-day. After discovering the on-line community of quilters she began her blog (www.aquiltinglife.com) in the summer of 2008 as a means of re-cording her quilting life and journey. She has been publishing her designs in magazines and books since 2011 and has two books of her own. Being able to design fabric for Moda is truly a dream come true.

introducingChelsi is married and the mother of two sweet daughters, Ashton and Harper. She is passionate about nature, music and fashion—things which inspire her art today. Creating has always been her love, and she often went to sleep at night listening to the hum of her Mom’s sewing ma-chine from the adjoining room. She remembers rummaging through the myriad of fabrics in the sewing room looking for just the right combinations and feels it an incredible blessing to be able to bring her own designs to life on fabric for Moda.

INSPIREDWhen you walk outside at certain times of the day in the southwest, you can see a painting of col-ors streaming across the sky. Bright Sun is a beautiful portrait of that moment on a cool morning when you see the sun awakening along the mountain ridges; it is the setting sun when beautiful silhouettes create a mysterious and beautiful new landscape. Bright Sun is an expression of local southwestern influences and some of our Native American an-cestry mixed with a bright and exciting feel. One of our ancestors, Bright Sun, was the daughter of Big Elk, chief of the Omaha tribe in the early 1800’s. Her lovely name seemed the perfect title for our first collection. We hope that you will use Bright Sun to create projects that are bright, sunny, and bold.
