Frog Bikes, a small British company dedicated to making bicycling fun for children, has announced the opening of sales and distribution in the US with the establishment of Frog Bikes Inc., headquartered in Ocean, NJ. Frog Bikes manufactures a full line of lightweight bicycles for children ages 2-14. With the opening of a US headquarters, Frog will be able to market and sell their bicycles and related supplies and accessories to the US consumer.

Frog has worked with leading researchers in sports science at Brunel University in UK to analyse hundreds of children using rigorous bike-fitting analysis normally only conducted with adult riders. Using these findings and working together with Dimitris Katsanis of Metron Advanced Equipment, Frog has evolved the geometry of kids’ bikes. They believe they are unique in applying scientific research to the design of children’s bikes. The outcomes of this research include a unique crank design with reduced Q factor to make riding more comfortable for kids with a narrower pelvis than adults. The improved cranks convert more of a child’s energy into forward motion. Frog has also encorporated easier to reach brake levers, changes to drop and reach, and to the seat-post angle – all of which improves comfort on the bike.

Every part of the bike is designed specifically to meet the needs of smaller riders. Frog sees that children are not just small adults, their needs are different. So they use easy-change thumb shifter gears, adjustable brake levers and geometry designed to be as comfortable as possible for children.

BRINGING THE SCIENCE OF BIKE FIT TO KIDS’ BIKE DESIGN.

Frog bikes are sold throughout the UK, mainland Europe, Canada, South Africa, Hong

Kong, Japan and many other countries. Frog recently celebrated the opening of a 120,000

sq ft factory in South Wales, their first manufacturing facility in the UK. Jerry Lawson, co-

throughout Europe that carry our product and we expect to increase that number dramatically with our entry
