Location Brisbane is the capital of the Australian state of Queensland. It

is the third most populous city in Australia. Brisbane is also called Sunshine State, because the weather is better than in other states.

The city is centred along the Brisbane River.

The greater Brisbane region is on the coastal plain east of the Great Dividing Range.

Australia is located in Oceania, it is divided into 6 states: New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia. Australia is the world’s sixth-largest country by total area.

Australia is the 52nd most populous country in the world. Thepopulation of Australia is estimated to be 23,817,500 inhabitants.

Australia has no official language, but the majority of the peopleuse Australian English in grammar and spelling. The most commonlanguage spoken is English (81% of the population), however, otherminorities speak Italian (1,9%), Greek (1,4%) and Spanish (0,5%)

Australia is a constitutional monarchy with a federal division of power. It uses a parliamentary system of government with Queen Elizabeth II. She’ s the Queen of 16 of the 53 member states in the Commonwealth of Nations. 3

Population Brisbane has 2,043 million inhabitants in 2014.

2% of Brisbane’s population were of indignous origin and 29.7% were born overseas, the three main countries birth were the United Kingdom, New Zealand and India.

The averageage in all the city is 35 years.

The majority of the populations spoke English, but about 18% of households spoke other lenguages. The most common lenguages are Mandarin, Vietnamese and Spanish.

Brisbane is a city with a diverse multicultural community. It has a lot of different religions inclugind catholic, hindu, mormon, islam, lutheran…

The Queensland Cultural Centre is located at South Bank. It consists of the Queensland Performing Arts Centre. The Queensland Museum, the State Library of Queensland, the Queensland Art Gallery and the Queensland Gallery of Modern art.

Sport The city has certain facilities for sporting activities. Across the

city there are 20 public swimming pools, many kilometres of dedicated bikeways and other sports venues. Suncorp Stadium and the Brisbane Cricket Ground, known by the more popular name as The Gabba, are two of the largest venues in the city.

As Australia, in Brisbane is practiced surfing,

you can surf for example in Sunshine Coast,

Bribie, Moreton, and the Stradbroke Islands.

Other aquatic activities are dive or marine fishing. You can also go on a sailing trip.

Brisbane is the basis of a large amount of teams

in national competitions including the Brisbane Broncos

and Brisbane Lions. 7

Sport The most popular spectator sport in Brisbane is Rugby league.

The martial arts are also popular in Brisbane.

The olympic sports of boxing, judo and taekwondo are more well known.

Places to visit

If you go to Brisbane you should:

Take a day trip to Moreton Island for

kayaking or other activities in the river,

Moreton Island has many dunes to ride

With a sand tobogganing.

There, all you need to do is choose the

ideal camp spot or opt for a holiday home.

See a play, attend a workshop or see

a comedy night at Brisbane Powerhouse.

Places to visit Go to alfresco restaurants and bars

at South Bank and Eagle Street Pier.

Visit the Lockyer Valley, it is

the largest Australia's food

bowl, all only one hour from

brisbane city. You can browse

the local markets for find homemade

desserts like jam and chutney.

Visit the Scenic Rim wich is World Heritage Listed GondwanaRainforest, right on Brisbane’s doorstep. You can walk around a waterfalls at Tamborine Mountain or join a guided bicycle tour. You also can pitch a tent by Lake Moogerah.
