FROM THE PRESIDENT

I met with Julie Munro this week at Pine Rivers Bowls

Club and discussed the possibility of Julie taking on

Fund Raising Co-Ordinator for BNABAi. Julie has kindly

agreed to look after this aspect of BNABAi. Welcome

aboard Julie!

I have talked with the offices of Steven Miles MP and

Peter Dutton MP this week and both have donated

Christmas Hampers for our raffle. We thank both MPs

for their continued support of BNABAi.

I have written to Steven Miles Office to gain some

support from government departments in getting a

fairer deal for Arm Bowlers. I will let you know how this

turns out.

Unfortunately both BA and BQ are not responding to

emails and will not sit down to talk about Arm Bowls

and its future with us. This is a shame as they are

supposed to be our governing bodies.

Please note that we have agreed to change the date of

our Christmas Tournament in December to the 8th

December, due to some other events happening at

Kallangur. I will be letting everyone know about that

when I finalise the flyer that is almost complete.

The proposed Calendar of Events is complete and we

are just in the process of confirming dates with the

various Clubs involved in 2020.

Our new website will be available in the next week or

so and we are just adding some final changes to it. It

looks great!!

Shirts whilst on hold at the moment are moving

forward. I am in the process of trying for a Sponsorship

deal for shirts with Flight Centre, but this won’t be

finalised until December, so we have decided to wait to

see if they will do so.

I am currently working on a new sponsorship deal with

TravelScoot Australia. I will let you know more about

this one as it comes to fruition.

BNABAi ORGANISATIONAL CHANGES

Julie Munro has taken on the position of Fund Raising

Co-Ordinator, so if you have any ideas on Fund Raisers

for 2020 please discuss with Julie.

The first job for Julie and myself is to organise some

prizes for our Christmas Raffle. Julie and I have

organised a pro-forma letter that we can send out to

potential Sponsors for our raffle and Julie is starting

work on that one.

ASPLEY TOURNAMENT IS NEXT

Our focus will now turn to our next tournament to be

held at Aspley Bowls Club on Sunday 17th November.

This tournament is getting plenty of interest so should

be a great day. I hope to see a lot of our players at this

one. Again it will be under cover.

Our major Sponsor for this tournament will again be

Linda Walters of Progressive Realty and there are 3 x

$50 Cards up for grabs again.

Our raffle sponsor will again be Kris Higgins of Travel

Counsellors who contributes our raffle prizes each

month.

can use their services please do, as without our

sponsors it is difficult to run these days.

BNABAi CHRISTMAS RAFFLE

Our Christmas Raffle is hoped to be a major fundraiser

for us this year and will be drawn on Sunday 8th

December at Kallangur Memorial Bowls Club, after our

matches.

Julie and I are working on gathering prizes at this stage

for the raffle and we have already started to gather a

Raffle tickets will be $2 each or 3 for $5 and we are

hoping to start selling tickets from 12th November.

I am working on some venues for a stand to do so at

this time.

SEQ QLD BOWLS EVENTS FACEBOOK SITE

We have the opportunity to put our upcoming events

onto the SE Qld Bowls Event Facebook Page. I believe

this to be yet another opportunity to promote Brisbane

Northside Arm Bowls Association Inc.

I have been putting our flyers up there now for a while

and it is getting some enquiry.

If you are an Arm Bowler and would like to support

Brisbane Northside Arm Bowlers Association Inc,

Membership is only $20 per year to do so, so please

contact Tony Watson on 0408 766 992 or email

Benefits of joining our Association is the first

preference to play in our Tournaments, a lot of

information about what we do only goes out to

members and only members have voting rights to have

input into our future direction.

There is also free coaching available on game days, by

appointment and you will get to meet and learn from a

whole range of Arm Bowlers at various levels of the

game.

We also have a few Bowling Arms that can be loaned

to our Financial Members to try.

We are also fighting the battle to have a fairer

arrangement for selection of State players for the

future and to have a truly National Competition in the

future.

Membership is also open to non-arm bowlers to

become Associate Members of Brisbane Northside

Arm Bowlers Association Inc if you have an interest in

what we do.

We offer friendly games based on the Northside of

Brisbane for Arm Bowlers of all standard. Our prize

monies are random draw, so anyone can win on the

day.

Please note that if you are not a current Financial

Member of Brisbane Northside Arm Bowlers

Association Inc, you are not covered by our insurance

policy if you elect to play in our tournaments.

You do not have to be a member of a Brisbane

Northside Club to play in our tournaments, but you do

need to be a financial member of a Bowls Australia

recognised Bowls Club. So we are open to all Arm

Bowlers to join us, however, our members have first

preference.

We welcome all levels of players and look forward to

meeting you on the Greens on the Northside of

Brisbane.

So, come on get involved and help grow Arm Bowls

with us!!!
