In 2008 London Underground Limited commissioned Tube Lines Limited to develop a

RIBA Stage D design for Step Free Access at Green Park station through to detailed

design and to delivery. The works included a south-eastern extension to the existing

Ticket Hall incorporating a ramp from the adjacent Green Park directly into the

station, the installation of two lift shafts, one from street level to Ticket Hall level and

a second from Ticket Hall level to the Victoria line platform and Piccadilly/Jubilee line

interchange levels. Due to the spatial constraints the lift shaft to the platform/

interchange levels had to be constructed adjacent to and beneath the Victoria line

escalator barrel containing three operational escalators.

This presentation will discuss the development of the design, site logistics, ticket hall

extension construction and construction of the elliptical lift shaft and stub tunnel using

SCL methods whilst maintaining the operation of Green Park station throughout.

The presentation will also briefly discuss the provision of the escalator jacking system

and the instrumentation and monitoring equipment employed.
