Birkenhead BAFF Pumping Station Optimise BAFF Backwash sequences. Addition of Inlet pump and tuning Heat Exchange valves.

Project Details

Validate and optimise the BAFF Backwash sequences for 8 cells at the Birkenhead Waste Water Treatment Works in the UK. Addition of Inlet pump to increase flow through

capacity. PID tuning for Heat Exchange valves for optimum performance and run step change trials. Modify SCADA and PLC systems to reflect the changes. An assortment of other modifications were made to rectify outstanding maintenance issues especially with the Allen Bradley DH+ industrial network.

Bromborough Waste Water Treatment Plant Inlet to Discharge Control System for WWTW with BAFF cells

Project Details

The scope of this project was to provide the complete control system for this new Waste Water Treatment Works and included installation, commissioning,

startup and process optimisation. Supply of a complete control system with processes designed by Purac and Degremont and managed by Bechtel for North West Water for a complete 500 MLD Waste Water Treatment Works. The process included RBI, Screens, Inlet VSDs, Settlement, BAFF Plant, Blowers, Buffer Tanks, Digesters, Discharge VSDs. Automatic control system and software design and development. System controlled by 8 Allen Bradley PLCs on a dual redundant fibre optic network and Hot Standby Intouch SCADA systems. This was a project to design & develop an end to end systems and software solution for the Bromborough Waste Water Treatment Works near Liverpool UK. Scope included creation of the Functional and System Design Specifications from control philosophies and P&IDs. We specified the control system including PLC Hardware, Drives, Instruments, IO Schedule, SDS, Test Specifications and approved the build for United Utilities at the Factory Acceptance Test. Abalto Designed, Developed, FAT & Commissioned 8 Allen Bradley PLCs with PanelView HMI and RSView32 SCADA system. We also designed and implemented the site wide communications with Fibre Optic DH+. All systems were FAT and SAT Tested with Commissioning, Start-up, Training and As Built documentation. During operational optimisation of the process we provide control systems tuning.

Chelmsford Waste Water Treatment Plant A new Control System for the Chelmsford Waste Water Treatment Works from Inlet to Discharge.

Abalto provided the complete control system for the process control of the Chelmsford Waste Water Treatment Works in the UK including Rotating Bar

Interceptors, Screens, Air blowers, Pathogen Kill Tanks, Digesters, Heat Exchangers, Buffer Tanks. System controlled by 6 Allen Bradley PLCs interfaced to an Intellution Fix SCADA system.

Sludge Pasteurisation Plants Control Systems for Anglian Water Sludge Pasteurisation Plants Scope included the design, build and commissioning of 6 PURAC Purisers for Anglian Water at: Caister WwTW Cliff Quay WwTW Great Billing WwTW Bedford WwTW Cambridge WwTW Chelmsford WwTW

Project Details

Control system and software design and development for a continuous batch process control of Sludge Pasteurisation Plant. System controlled by an Allen Bradley PLC interfaced to a Panelview. The control philosophy involved the sludge heating using heating and recovery coil heat exchangers to 72°C and holding the sludge for 30 minutes to kill pathogens for sludge disposal to land fill. Residual heat recovery was use to heat incoming ambient sludge. Sludge flow and heat to digesters was also improved and managed.

Liuzhou Water Treatment Plant China Control Systems for a 500 MLD Water Treatment Plant Control and automation systems including PLCs and SCADA systems delivered from client P&IDs and PFDs. Scope included engineering, system build, installation supervision, commissioning and start-up.

Project Details

Project for the Systems Engineering of a complete end-to-end software systems design, development and commissioning of the 500 MLD Liuzhou Water Treatment plant China. Delivery of PLC, SCADA and Telemetry systems design, build and execution and completed on schedule and within the client budget. Detailed planning done and project team assembled, tasked, motivated and monitored. Deliverables validated against client process and functional specifications and proved with process testing. Site commissioning, as built documentation produced and client training delivered.

Wuxi Water Treatement Plant China A complete Control System including site commissioning Specify, design, build the control system with 7 AB 5/60e PLC’s from URS for end to end control of a 800 MLD Water Treatment Plant. Processes included Intake Pumping Station, Chemical Makeup, Storage and Dosing, Sedimentation Settling Tanks, 12 modulated RG Filter Beds, Compressor Sets, Air Blowers and a Clean

Water Pumping Station. The Intake and Clean Water stations included controls for 8 off 10KV motors. Database and scripts were used for Dual Hot Standby Intouch Master Operating Stations with Data Logging, Alarms Server and Historical Trending. Included 5 Intouch Local Operating Stations for local control.

Project Details

Responsible for a providing a complete control system including control philosophy, functional design specification, systems design specification, systems and software design and development, simulation, factory acceptance testing, commissioning, site acceptance testing and support for the process control of an 800 MLD Clean Water Treatment Works. Processes included Intake, Settlement, Dosing, Reverse Gravity Filter Beds, Contact tank dosing and pump distribution to the main supply all controlled by 7 Allen Bradley PLCs connected on a control network and interfaced to 7 distributed Intouch SCADA systems.

PURAC – Anglian Water, Cotton Valley UK A functional design specification was used to develop the configuration for a Xycom Graphics system, for process control. BOC An FDS was used to develop the software design specification. Work involved the software design, development and commissioning to control pumps and valves with a Modicon 984 PLC interfaced to an Intouch SCADA system. PURAC – Severn Trent Water, Worcester UK Software design and development for the process control of a Waste Water Treatment Works. System controlled by 2 Mitsubishi PLCs interfaced to an Intouch SCADA system. PURAC – Severn Trent Water, Coleshill UK Software Modifications and re-commissioning of a system to control 28 off Limitorque valves connected on a 2-wire network and interfaced to a Bead Interconnect display and control unit.
