Hockey Sticks

When sticks were first used in hockey they were made from wood.

But in recent years carbon fiber and other composite ma-terials has become a popualr option.

Compostie sticks are lighter and allow for a quicker release of a shot.

Some hockey play-ers still prefer to use wooden stick but overall composite sticks are being used at every level.

Hockey sticks in the NHL can be maxi-mum of 63 inches long with blades at 12.5 inches long.

Players 6’6” can file a request to have a lon-ger stick which they still impose a max of

65 inches

An important aspect of a hockey stick is

the “flex” on it.

Flex refers to the amount of force need-

ed to bend the shaft the stick.

Flex acts like a spring allowing players to get more torque and

power into their shots
