A high-performance, durable material which provides exceptional resistance to tears, scruffs and abrasions.
It has a remarkable strength to weight ratio.
Kotkor®
This material is exclusive to Le Chameau and its name is a derivative of its components Cotton and Cordura®. The cotton
gives a soft feel to the touch whilst the Cordura® adds phenomenal strength. Kotkor® is very difficult to tear and is not permanently damaged by the penetration of thorns. The Kotkor® fabric is treated with a Teflon® finish which repels water. Inside the lining is a waterproof, breathable membrane which ensures you stay dry even in the most challenging conditions.
LCX® LCX® is a unique membrane that is exclusive to Le Chameau. It is highly breathable and completely waterproof/windproof across a broad range of temperatures. It has the additional advantages of being lightweight, very durable and completely silent.
WL Gore Windstopper® Windstopper® membrane is designed to block out wind, without reducing the breathability of the garment. It preserves natural heat inside the garment whilst protecting against windchill.
Polartec® Polartec® 200 fleece is a remarkably lightweight material with exceptional heat retaining qualities. It is highly breathable to keep you comfortable
during strenuous activity. For ease of care, Polartec® is treated to resist pilling and mildew.
Polartec® 300 Thermal Pro®. With the same properties as the 200 weight fleece, but with enhanced thermal insulation and excellent breathability.
Technowarm® Technowarm® is a hardwearing 100% polyester fleece which gives exceptional breathability and insulation.
Technowarm® is manufactured in different weights and has a high quality finish which is resistant to pilling.
Alcantara®
Alcantara® is a unique and innovative material with both aesthetic and functional properties. It is very easy to
maintain and this, coupled with excellent resistance and breathability, makes it the ideal material to use in functional, intensively used clothing where the wearer also demands a stylish finish.
Cotton® Cotton is a natural fibre which is used to make a soft,
comfortable textile. Its breathable and absorbent properties make it ideal for shooting clothing and
additionally, garments made from cotton are abrasion resistant and can be ironed at relatively high temperatures.

Welcome Thank you for choosing Le Chameau. Over the years, we have refined our collections, adding new technologies and updating old favourite designs. The 2011 Autumn/Winter collection will not disappoint; reassuringly recognisable, but instantly different!
80 years of quality It is over eighty years since Le Chameau first began hand-making their premium quality, natural rubber boots at their factory in northern France. Thus steeped in tradition and yet at the forefront of technology, the name Le Chameau is truly synonymous with excellence; excellence in materials, excellence in design and excellence in manufacture.
Uniquely traditional It takes nine months of intense training to become a Le Chameau boot-maker. Nine months to acquire the unique skills which have been passed down through generations, from master to apprentice, so that the wearer has the assurance of a boot hand made with the same care and craftsmanship that they were over 80 years ago.
Le Chameau clothing Everything that is true of Le Chameau’s attention to detail in boot making is evident in the clothing collection. Crafted with the country user in mind, not only is Le Chameau clothing incredibly hardwearing, but stylish and comfortable too; providing the optimum in terms of protection from the cold and wet of winter. The attention to detail combined with continuous product development has earned Le Chameau the reputation as the world’s most respected bootmaker. Steeped in tradition yet always at the forefront of boot technology, Le Chameau uses only the latest soles, mid soles and innovative linings in the manufacture of their top of the range boots.
Natural rubberThe Hevea, a native tree of tropical Amazonia, is the source of natural rubber. The qualities of Le Chameau boots derive largely from the properties of this natural elastic material in being supple, robust and waterproof. The ability to maintain these properties even at low temperatures makes rubber the finest natural product available for protection from the worst of the British climate.
Leather liningsNo synthetic material can duplicate the properties of soft, full grain leather; insulating, breathable, durable and supremely comfortable. When used in our boots, this luxurious natural material is crafted to fully envelope the wearer’s foot, ensuring exceptional all-round comfort. The tanning process leaves the leather resistant to damp and water damage.
Neoprene liningsUsed by manufacturers of wetsuits, Le Chameau led the way in the use of Neoprene in country footwear. It is supremely efficient because it warms quickly and the lining works by trapping little pockets of air which, once warm, prevent the loss of body heat. Our neoprene boots are perfect for use in temperatures ranging from +15ºC to -5ºC.
Neoprene ExtremeHas all the benefits of regular neoprene but boasts even greater thermal properties.This is due to the 5mm neoprene thickness as opposed to 3mm as standard.
Jersey cotton liningsOur jersey cotton-lined boots maintain Le Chameau’s reputation for quality and durability at a competitive price. A cotton lined boot is comfortable and light to wear and may be used all year round. The lining flexes in concert with the rubber and unlike nylon, which can abrade or separate, is latex coated and vulcanised to the rubber to prevent such problems occurring.
Iris Fourée lining: The fur lining is made from acrylic. It is a warm lining suitable for winter.Chasseur Fourée lining The fur lining is made from natural wool and gives a luxurious warm feel to the boot.
OutlastAn advanced material which regulates the temperature inside the boot to ensure the wearer’s comfort. Outlast contains phase-change silicon microcapsules that change from a solid to a liquid state according to variations in body temperature, so that when the body temperature falls, Outlast emits heat, and conversely, when the body temperature rises, the microcapsules absorb the excess heat. For added comfort, Le Chameau use a layer of neoprene next to the Outlast material.

We have collaborated with professional users and technical advisors at every stage of the design process. Our designs are tested in both laboratories and the field. All these factors combine to guarantee the reliability of Le Chameau products.
GuaranteesLe Chameau footwear and clothing is guaranteed against manufacturing defects for a period of two years. This guarantee does not cover abusive use, normal wear and tear or damage resulting from misuse of the product. If your product is defective, do not hesitate to return it to the stockist you purchased it from. Proof of purchase will be required. The stockist will return the product to us and after it has been checked over, the product will either be repaired free of charge or replaced (according to the conditions of guarantee). If zips are not maintained properly they will fail and are therefore charged for within the Guarantee period.
RepairsIf your Le Chameau product is no longer covered by its guarantee, we will provide an estimate for its repair. Return your product direct to us for evaluation. No work will be undertaken without your prior consent. Please note that boots must be returned in a clean condition. Some of our boots have Salmi zips (identifiable by the name on the zip). The pullers on these are interchangeable, so should they fail, please contact LLC Ltd directly and we can arrange for easily affixable replacements to be sent to you so the boots do not have to be returned.
Footwear careLeather walking bootsLeather boots should be cleaned if dirty, preferably with lukewarm or cold water. They should then be left to dry away from any heat sources (away from radiators and not left in drying rooms etc). Once dry it is a good idea to use a Nikwax leather boot proofer (liquid or wax) to replenish the leather’s natural water-repellency. Dependant upon wear, it’s a good idea to polish the boot with a boot conditioner every few months/a couple of times a year - this keeps the leather nice and supple (but not too often as it can also make the leather too soft).
Fabric and suede walking bootsSame principle as above. Suede or fabric boots can be harder to clean mud off in comparison to leather boots. It is possible to purchase suede cleaner for stubborn dirt. After cleaning, again leave to dry away from heat sources. Once dry, re-proof. Because suede and fabric don’t have the natural water repellency of full grain leather, the exterior will be coated with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating during production.
Rubber bootsWash them in clean water, leave to dry. Spray on silicone spray care product and shine with a soft, dry cloth. Keep your boots in a cool and airy place, away from direct sunlight and heat source. Use the silicone spray on the full length zip to improve the zip action.
Country clothingLe Chameau country clothing is easy to care for. Our garments are designed to be machine washable at 40° (but always read the label). Use non-biological powder, because it delays the eventual need for re-proofing. Avoid fabric conditioners when washing all fleece products.
