OUR HISTORY

In 1984, after consultation with community residents and the Metropolitan Toronto Housing Authority, the first Children’s Breakfast Clubs was opened in the Jane/Falstaff community. It was determined that many community needs and concerns could be addressed with a breakfast program:

• A nutritious start to the day for children to help prevent behavioural problems, limited attention span, truancy and frequent tardiness

• A safe place for parents to leave their children when they go to work

• A warm and caring environment where children feel safe and supported

YOU CANNOT FEED A HUNGRY MIND ON AN EMPTY STOMACH

Today, The Children’s Breakfast Clubs operate programs in 25+ communities. The Clubs are established in collaboration with a number of community partners, including residents, agencies, schools and organizations. Each Club has a community advisory board.

The Children’s Breakfast Clubs is a non-profit charitable organization that believes every child is entitled to a nutritious breakfast. An estimated 4000 meals are served each week in the 25+ Clubs across Southern Ontario.

By sponsoring The Children’s Breakfast Clubs’ program, your companies and organizations recognize the impact that good nutrition has on families, communities, and the healthcare system. Your support provides The Children’s Breakfast Clubs with an opportunity to increase awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle and raise much needed funds to further the Clubs’ mission.

THE COMPETITION

Each year, The Children’s Breakfast Clubs and Burnbrae Farms host an annual breakfast cooking competition to raise funds for our Breakfast Clubs across the GTA. Approximately 25 corporate teams will participate in the competition - vying for the title of “The Children’s Breakfast Clubs’ Champion”. Each team may bring their own “special ingredients” to add to their eggylicious masterpiece meals!

We Provide each team with one dozen fresh eggs.

You Can Bring your own “special ingredients” to add to the eggs. Armed with passion and ingenuity, the teams will race against the clock to turn the eggs and their special ingredients in to a delectable breakfast.

• Corporate teams have 4 participants. The teams are encouraged to invite a huge “cheering section” of supporters

• A team of celebrities will judge the culi-nary creations.

• Celebrity chefs will be on hand to mentor the teams throughout the competition

• There is a fantastic trophy and bragging rights on the line in this cut-throat competition and everybody wants to win!
