Whether our students decide to go to college or straight into the work force, we have just the right place for each of them. From Busy Bees Pre-school through their senior project, we provide multi-ple pathways, which include: learning through art in our Reggio based Pre-K program, our middle school Global pathways program, dozens of Advanced Placement and dual

credit courses off ered at our high schools, project based learning. Our Career Pathway, C-4, off erings include an Engi-neering Immersion pathway, Health Careers, and Veterinary Careers among dozens of oth-ers. We also boast a nationally recognized K-12 Project Based Learning pathway comprised of two elementary schools, a middle school and a high school.

BCSC capitalizes on indi-viduality and values diver-sity. Our population totals 11,418 students, represent-ing 7 nationalities, and 51 languages. 13.9 percent of students are serviced through the corporation’s highly regarded, special ed-ucation department. BCSC drives successful learning outcomes through encour-aging and instilling the val-ue of diverse ideals, critical to in depth, and authentic learning. All students are welcome regardless of race, religion, or creed.

BCSC is an award-winning

corporation that facilitates au-

thentic learning. We have been

endowed with distinguished

awards for progressive courses,

student satisfaction, and ser-

vices to the community. Spe-

cialized instructors, award win-

ning staff , and close community

relations are key backbone in-

frastructures that ensure excel-

lence. Such accolades are testa-

ments to the high standard of

teaching and innovation one

can expect at BCSC. Addition-

ally, the authentic daily experi-

ences that transform students

and families continue to drive

the depth of the program. We

off er a multitude of extracur-

riculars including band, sports,

academic teams, and orches-

tra. From fourth grade on we

off er math and spell bowl at all

schools. Band and sports start in

middle school and go through

high school. Columbus overall

has a total of 38 state champi-

onships and a couple mid state

fi nalists for the marching bands.

Project Based LearningProject Based Learning is a sub-

stantial part of our unique culture.

We launched Columbus Signature

Academy, the fi rst K-12 PBL pro-

gram in the Midwest. CSA invites

students to solve real world prob-

lems in a technology rich environ-

ment. Our students develop 21st

Century skills while learning rig-

orous content and engaging with

community partners.

Universal Design for LearningUniversal Design for Learning is

the framework we employ to de-

sign and facilitate learning envi-

ronments. UDL provides a struc-

ture for educators to evaluate

potential barriers to learning,

gives accessible options for stu-

dents, and values variability, so we

can provide a culturally respon-

sive environment that celebrates

diversity.

Positive Behavior Intervention SupportPBIS is a student behavior system

with a profound focus on expec-

tations. The proactive vs. reactive

data driven system is implement-

ed in each school across BCSC to

create an environment in which

positive behavior “ works better”

than problem behavior. We pri-

oritize prevention versus punish-

ment sets it above other behavior

management systems.

Student input is what mat-ters to us the most. Wheth-er your child’s dream is to attend college or enter di-rectly into the workforce, rest assured that BCSC will join you in preparing him/her so that dream is made a reality. We teach our students to fi nd their voice and take charge of their own destinies. Stu-dents are encouraged to step into leadership roles, participate in the process-es and decisions that af-fect them and to welcome feedback and input from staff , students and com-munity members.

STUDENT INPUTStudent voice is evident by a new library. For their se-nior project, several students designed the library at CSA New Tech. They transformed the reading oppor-tunity for the students. At BCSC students matter, they have an enormous amount of input and are allowed to shine through their passion and strengths.

BCSC students and teachers are incredibly active in the community. Almost all of the projects that are done in our PBL schools, use communi-ty partners to come in and perfect and give feedback on projects and presentations. Projects that involve going out into Columbus and get-ting involved in what is going on around town and trying to help make Columbus a better city. All high school seniors are required to do a senior project, in a partnership with a community mentor.
