Distribution Trucks

Redefining transport

Page 2: Brochure Scania Distribution Australia

Whether your business is road transport or depends on road transport, you probably see trucks in purely rational terms. Scania trucks are all about ensuring the lowest possible cost of operation. In multiple pick-up and drop-off situations, premium-quality Scania distribution vehicles deliver uptime and productivity that can be measured in reduced costs per kilometre over the entire service life of the vehicles.

Lasting quality costs more to build, but pays off over time. This long-term saving stems directly from the Scania hallmarks of legendary reliability, outstanding fuel economy and exceptional driveability. In practical terms, that means you get a durable vehicle with excellent fuel economy and environmental performance that meets Euro 5 and EEV standards. And drivers love Scania’s distinctive handling. Call it ease of use, manoeuvrability or smoothness – it’s everything that makes it easy to simply step on-board and drive off with confidence.

The link you can trust.

Driver’s often meet customers face to face, so they are a natural part of your company’s profile. That’s why we believe in building comfortable and attractive vehicles that strongly appeal to drivers and help them stay comfortable on the job.

A Scania cab is designed for high productivity. That’s because a first-class environment promotes better driving, which will contribute to the profitability of your company. Your drivers are our priority when designing our cabs fit for distribution work. Our cab range for intrastate and distribution work has been extended to included the G-series which enters the range along with the well-established P-series model.

Ultimately, Scania distribution trucks attract skilled drivers who drive safely, economically and take care of vehicles and goods – another example of how Scania contributes to improved long-term economy.

Scania Rigid Trucks make driving as plea-surable, safe and productive.

Scania distribution trucks offer exceptional all-round visibility. The result is increased efficiency leading to faster deliveries, less stress, greater safety and reduced risk of low-speed collisions.

Scania offers a 6x2 axle configuration as standard and the ability to optimise axle distances for particular body lengths. The result is an optimum weight distribution and an exceptional turning radius in tight places.

Injection, combustion and turbocharging systems from Scania. What you don’t see is what you feel.

We build our engines just as you do your business – from the ground up. From optimised single cylinders at the core to advanced emission reduction at the tailpipe, our goals are the same: to maximise perfor-mance and reduce maintenance.

All Euro 5 inline engines use a patented two-stage Exhaust Gas Recirculation emission technology unique to Scania, which allows the engines to run solely on diesel without the need for additives.

Scania’s unique Exhaust Gas Recirculation reduces emissions during combustion, directly in the combustion chamber. It lowers nitrogen oxide emissions by cooling and reusing a portion of the exhaust gases.

Scania 13-Litre Engines

Scania’s 13-litre inline Euro 5 engines offer the next-generation Scania EGR system, Scania XPI and VGT technology, resulting in better productivity, economy and uptime across the range.

The impressive performance and torque is achieved thanks to Scania XPI, extra-high pressure fuel injection and variable geometry turbocharger.

Scania XPI allows fuel delivery and injection pressure to be set independently of engine speed, with exceptional precision. It uses up to three precisely timed fuel injections to enhance performance and economy – while reducing harmful emissions through every cycle.

The entire 13-litre engine range is available in the Scania G-series as well as Scania P-series in 360hp and 400hp outputs.

Scania 9-Litre Engines

Scania’s 9-litre 5-cylinder inline engine delivers the same advantages as the Scania 13L engines, but in a more compact configuration. Outputs of 230, 280 and 320hp offer several economical ways to meet Euro 5 standards, with Scania’s unique EGR system, XPI and VGT.

Lower emissions and higher uptime combine to keep you running strong, for years to come.

Scania 9-Litre EEV Engines

Scania can also offer engines that exceed Euro 5 emission levels. Scania 9L EEV engines also use Scania EGR, XPI high-pressure fuel injection and VGT along with the addition of a maintenance-free particulate trap, which makes for extremely clean and efficient engines.

Scania Opticruise is an automated gearchanging system that benefits drivers and operators by improving driving comfort and eliminating the need to watch revs and physically change gears. It also enables the driver to devote more attention to handling the vehicle and to monitoring the road and traffic conditions, promoting greater safety.

Scania’s new Opticruise is now available in either a fully automated version with a unique automatic clutch, or with a classic clutch pedal, according to your own preference.

Our vision was to create a system that thinks and acts like the most skilful and experienced driver. To make it easier than ever to master difficult driving situations.

Inspired by this challenge, Scania engineers set out to optimise all aspects of performance and driving experience. The result is a new gearchanging intelligence that improves uphill driveability, fuel economy and driver comfort – as well as setting a high industry standard for precision manoeuvring.

Scania Retarder

In addition to the standard wheel brake system, Scania offers its own hydraulic retarder integrated into the gearbox.

The Scania Retarder is a highly efficient auxiliary braking system. Completely integrated with the service brakes and exhaust brake, it provides the ideal combination of braking func-tions, specialised in downhill speed control.

Retarder braking can be initiated with a dab on the brake pedal or with the lever on the steering column. The gap between the cruising speed and the downhill speed can be set in small steps using a button on the steering wheel. The retarder can be set to automatically work with the service brakes at all times, reducing service brake applications by up to 75 percent.

Scania Brake Systems

The full range of Scania engines offer out-standing torque and power by fully integrating the exhaust brake and retarder with the service brakes. Scania gives the driver a braking system that maximises control and minimises wear.

This requires reliable design and very high quality components. Disc brakes with EBS (Electric Brake System) are fitted as standard to Scania’s trucks. Brake Blending, and high brake temperature warnings are other functions that increase safety and reduce wear on the truck. Scania’s brake system is characterised by modern technology, long life components and simple design. These factors contribute to low weight, ease of braking, safety and low maintenance costs.

Powered with precision.

Get Scania Fleet Management System on board and you’ll soon discover why thousands of companies around the world are enjoying better management solutions and reduced operating costs.

Better equipped, better operating costs

Scania Fleet Management System’s ‘black box’ records data on the operational performance of trucks while they’re on the move.

The black box, installed in each truck, transfers information to your office system via wireless links and the internet. It records data such as location, fuel usage, speed and acceleration to help highlight areas for improvement to help you run a smarter operation with better cost control.

Better safety, better security

Want to provide a more secure working environment and improve your fleet safety record? Scania Fleet Management System helps you achieve both.

The RIBAS virtual driver trainer monitors over revving, excessive idling, harsh braking, harsh acceleration and over speeding and notifies the driver when these occur, allowing immediate driving style improvements. Smoothing out driving, enhances driver comfort and safety. It also improves the safety of your load and longevity of your vehicle.

The system also improves safety for drivers by alerting the office when servicing is due, recording when a hazard light is activated and by providing an immobiliser that allows only authorised drivers to start the truck. It also monitors when a no-go zone has been entered and exactly where the truck is in real time.

Monitoring of this kind leads to safer driving and reduces accident rates. Not only does this make the driver’s workplace safer, but it can also improve the company’s claims history allowing you to negotiate better insurance premium and rates.
