OUR HISTORY

BUCKLAND ESTATE is a Stalely Victorian Georgian manor which was established in 1836 and completed in 1872. At the time it was completed the Dempster homestead was one of the largest private buildings in the Colony. It has a colourful history as a social centre for the Avon Valley, National and International dignitaries.

Today it is a private residence set on 21 hectares and it isabout 100kms East of Perth in the Avon Valley between Northam and Toodyay. The owners are experienced in weddings, events and accommodation and offer you many options for your wedding or event.

With stunning views in every direction the property offers you many location options for your ceremonies, prereception drinks and receptions, all with stunning countryside and homestead views.

It also has two separate cottages for the bridal party or guests plus another five bedrooms in the main homestead and a pool in the backyard.

Buckland Estate is a grant heritage property that offers you exclusive privacy, charm and options for a modern country wedding.

HOMESTEAD

The grand Homestead has 5 separate bedrooms, 2

with King beds, 3 with Queen beds and additional

single beds as required.

These rooms are in the main home and share a

couple of bathrooms. They are large rooms that

all highlight the history and grand lifestyle of days

gone by.


DEMPSTER COTTAGE

A freestanding stone cottage built in 1853 is the ideal bridal

room. It has been fully renovated and is fully self contained

with a queen bed in the main area and a king single / sofa in

the dining area. It has a small fully equipped kitchen, ensuite

with spa bath, plus large verandah area to relax over looking

the trees, paddocks and lake whilst listening to the abundant

birdlife.


DAISY COTTAGE

Is a large fully self contained cottage with 2 separate Queen

bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, large living area (with room for

additional beds if required), pot belly fireplace, large kitchen/

dining area, separate laundry/toilet and large verandah

overlooking farm paddocks and rolling hills.

GLAMPING/OTHER ACCOMMODATION

We allow your guests to camp on site in either Glamping tents,

private tents or caravans for a minimal fee. We also provide

some power, lighting and large toilet and shower facilities.

In addition there is also many other hotels and bed and

breakfast stays within the region but we suggest the Dukes Inn

or new Farmers homestead (Dome Cafe) in case you wish to

provide bus or vehicle transport for your guests to the property.

WHERE IS BUCKLAND ESTATE LOCATED?

In the Avon Valley East of Perth at 986 Irishtown, Buckland 100 kms from Perth - 10 kms from Northam - 22kms from Toodjay. Perth airport is around 75 min. from the property and there is also a small plane air strip in …

IS THERE ROOM TO PARK AND TURN COACHES / BUSSES?

We have plenty of parking, room to turn and park coaches, plus a separate road into the property so we can keep all vehicles away from your ceremony and reception areas. We will arrange signage etc. to assist your guests.

CAN I HAVE A MARQUEE WEDDING ON YOUR PROPERTY?

Yes as an alternative to our large sheltered Wedding barn this is also a good option and even during the warmer months the nights cool down quickly to a very comfortable temperature. See site plan for suggested marquee location or other options may include paddocks and lakeside. The stars out here are stunning. (See property map for location page 11 )

WHAT OTHER LOCATION OPTIONS DO YOU HAVE?

IT depends on the time of the year and the number of guests you are looking at and we would be happy to show you our many options from the vast lawn areas, farm paddocks, lakeside areas, wedding barn, veranda’s or rear courtyard areas.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU PROVIDE?

Apart from the venue and accommodation we have a variety of furniture, table and chairs, lawn lounges, cocktail tables, mobile bar, ice boxes, lawn games, pallets and signage all at very attractive pricing.

DO YOU ALLOW DECORATIONS?Yes, we welcome your individual decorations, furnishings, fabrics, flowers, candles in jars and lighting. We do not allow anything to be applied to the walls or building that will cause damage. We love rose pedal confetti but do not allow confetti, fireworks, party poppers or silk rose petals, etc as they stain the stonework.

DO YOU HAVE SUFFICIENT POWER OR DO WE NEED A GENERATOR?

We have 2 separate Western power meters that we can use but these are only 2 phase. If your band or caterers need excessive power then it may be beneficial to rent a generator but most caterers have their own.

ARE WE ALLOWED TO BRING DOGS?

Yes, especially if you wish to use them as your ring bearer! They can sleep inside the cottages but no access into the Homestead.

IS THERE A NOISE RESTRICTION?

Although we do not have a closing restriction time we are bound by local council noise levels which you need to abide by. But generally we request music to be softer from 12.30am so you can continue.

FAQ


CAN I BRING IN MY OWN SUPPLIERS?

Yes you are free to use any suppliers as long as they have the relevant local council accreditations such as food licenses or safety certificates. We also have a very comprehensive list of suppliers which we can provide you. Note that all suppliers are your responsibility and any issues, damages etc. caused by themwill be your responsibility.

ALCOHOL

We are a BYO Alcohol Venue and we do not charge you for any corkage or fees. You are able to provide all drinks, bar service, glasses, ice etc. We cam provide you with a bar or service area/ table if required. We strongly recommend that you use bar staff and it is also your responsibility to show Duty of Care to ensure your guests and suppliers conduct themselves in an orderly manner and in full compliance with State Liquor Licensing Laws. If any of your guests are intoxicated and causing issues then we will ask you to control them or have them removed.

TOILET FACILITIES

If you choose the wedding barn area then we have permanent toilet and shower facilities there including disabled facilities. If you prefer to use the other lawn areas around the homestead then you will need to provide/hire your own toilet facilities.

WILL CHILDREN BE SAFE?

Children are welcome at your event but due to the nature of the property, various bodies of water and other safety aspects, they must be under the care and supervision of an adult at all times during your stay and event.

CAN I HOLD MY REHEARSAL ON THE PROPERTY THE DAY BEFORE?

You are welcome to come prior to your event for a Rehearsal (providing the date and time is available at the venue). In addition, we would encourage you to meet with us at least 3 weeks prior to your event to finalise locations, timing, room allocations and other requirements.

VENUE HIRE and ACOMMODATION PACKAGE

Includes –

• Exclusive use of the whole property for 2 DAYS including ceremony, pre dinner drinks and reception in any of our designated areas.

• Accommodation for 20 people for 2 nights in the main homestead and self contained detached cottages which includes all linen.

• Camping facilities if your wish to include camping or glamping.• Ceremony furniture (32 chairs, antique signing table and chairs).• Free access for all your vendors and suppliers.

• We can also charge your guests directly for accommodation after you have booked if you prefer.

• You may extend your accommodation for an extra $950/night.• Plus public holiday surcharge (15%) where applicable.

FURNITURE SUPPLY (Optional)

Includes –

The use of any of the items we have available including - round or rectangular tables and white tiffany chairs with cushions for up to 120 people, 4 lounge sofas, 8 cocktail tables , 44 gallon drum rustic cocktail tables, use of various pallets, drinks bar, ice boxes, 6 LED coloured flood lights, some lawn games and Bluetooth speakers. $8/person (inc GST)

FURNITURE INSTALLATION (Optional)

You are free to set up, pack up and clean the furniture yourselves (ie with friends and guests) or we can do it for you? $385 (inc GST)

ADDITIONAL LIGHTING (Optional)

In our wedding barn area all lighting is included but if you wish for us to supply and install festoon lighting in the other lawn areas then the addition hire and time to install and dismantle is $385 (inc GST)
