Summer 2013

Monica has received per-mission from the doctors to travel, so we are getting readyfor a mission trip to Mozambique. The last time I (Jeff) went to Mozambique was Feb2009; on that trip Roger and John Leech accompanied me. This time, if God allows byproviding the resources, Monica and Isaac will be coming with me.

Our plans are to leave Brazil on Jun 11th and go back to Brazil on Jun 22nd.

Monica will use art to teach the Bible to the children at the Hope School. She willteach morning and afternoon classes from 1st to 8th grade; the school has over 1000students.

We need donations of school supplies (colored pencils, crayons, water base paint,etc.). You can purchase these materials and send to us before May 1st, or you cansend a gift and Monica will purchase the material (More details call Monica 423-433-8537).

Monica will also encourage Juracema (Brazilian missionary), and she will work withthe women's ministry in Nampula.

I (Jeff) will be instituting the “Hands On” Bible College, for the church leaders. Leadersfrom the 72 village churches will come together at the Hope Mission leadership centerand I will be teaching.

Isaac will use soccer and other sports to witness to the school students.

We need your help to make this mission trip possible, Kleber and Juracema areexpecting us.

Ice Cream Party

With the purpose of raising funds for the ceiling at the Jundiai church, they promotedan ice-cream party and with the funds they have raised, church members started towork on the ceiling for the Sunday School Classes.

Mozambique

By faith, Kleber and Juracema have started to build a home at the Hope Mission forthem to live in, and receive visitors that come to help the ministry. God willing, if thehouse is ready, we will stay with them in the new home.

Short Term Mission Trip

We are open to receive individuals, groups, teams that would like to come and help usin Brazil during the summer (May through August). We can take a group of up to 10persons for up to 10 days at a time.

This summer we need to paint Pirituba’s church building inside and out. If you wouldlike to come to preach, teach and sing, we can use you to minister at the churchesfrom Tuesday to Sunday.

Please, plan to come to Brazil this summer; if not this summer plan to come in 2014,2015 or 2016.

BRoLM Theme for 2013. The BRoLM (Brazil River of Life Ministries) Churches andmany other Churches throughout the Portuguese-Speaking World theme for this yearis “2013, The Year of the Spiritual Blessings”. Jeff is writing a study guide for thewhole book of Ephesians base on this theme so the ministers in each location canshare the studies with their congregations. For the first chapter of Ephesians Jeffwrote 18 sermons, 12 of them were preached at the 12 Days of Purpose, and theothers are being preached on Sundays at each congregation.

Brazil Jan 13. Jeff arrived in Brazil on January 9th and he started preaching at the 12Days of Purpose at Pirituba Church on that same day. During the time that he was inBrazil he had the opportunity to minister at 19 services, visit the Bom Retiro, CampoLimpo Pta, Jundiai, Pirituba and Sao Mateus Churches. He led two voting churchmeetings; one at Campo Limpo Pta Church and one at Pirituba Church. He met with

the elders from each church and with the ministers separately. He ordained JoseSimonette to be the Minister at Campo Limpo Pta Church, baptized 4 into Christ, andvisited many Brothers and Sisters in their homes and drove 1875 miles all in 20 days.

Pirituba Church. The Pirituba Church voted for Jeff to continue to preach everySunday through Webex. We are seeing some signs of restoration and some growthsince Jeff became the preaching minister at Pirituba in May 2012.

Anniversary/Baptism/Ordination. On Jan 26, the Campo Limpo Pta Churchcelebrated its 8th Anniversary. All the BROLM Churches got together to celebrate atthis opportunity; 4 were baptized and Jose was ordained.

Baptism. This was the first time in 25 years that I (Jeff) baptized only women. Godhas given me the privilege to baptize over 400 people into Christ; my ministry hasalways been aimed at reaching the man so the whole family will come to Christ, therealways has been a man being baptized when I baptized people. However, Bia is thedaughter of a couple (Adriano & Cris) from CLP (Campo Limpo Pta), Babiih is thegirlfriend of Renato (drummer at Pirituba), Katia is the wife of Felipe; I baptized him,his grandfather, his uncle & aunt, his mother and 2 brothers in 2006 in CLP andJenifer is the wife of Tiago (Felipe’s best friend) that I baptized in 2007 in CLP.Therefore, all 4 that were baptized are connected to a male that it is already amember of one of the churches.

25 Years Serving Together. Jeff and Monica are celebrating 25 years of serving theLord together this month. They started working together before even dating in 1988 asan Evangelistic Team that traveled throughout Brazil. Monica played the piano andJeff took care of the sound, they both sang and Jeff preached.

Monica’s Health. On Feb 4th, Monica returned to the surgeon and he said that she ishealing well and that the possibility of her needing another surgery is down to 30%.Praise the Lord! Monica will be back to see the surgeon on April 8th, and he said thatif she continues to heal he believes that then he will be able to affirm that she doesnot need more surgery. Please, continue to pray for complete healing in the name ofJesus. Thanks for your prayers!

Hope Home. On January 12, we married two young people who live in the HopeMission. Anthony and Rabia; it was a moment of joy for all of us. Please pray for thiscouple because they are being used to help in the work of the Mission.

Hope School. On January 19, we met with all parents and the school year resumedon January 21. Many parents are still seeking to enroll their children at the HopeSchool, but now we cannot accommodate any more children. Please pray that theLord will continue to use the school as a means of evangelization of children.

Church Planting. We ask you to pray for our national workers, that the Lordstrengthen them and their families at the villages where they are announcing themessage of salvation.As a church, we have the task of being intercessors for the unreached ethnic groups.We praise God for your prayers!

UPDATE ON MONICA’S HEALTH Jan 07, 13Dear Friends and Prayer Warriors,

At the doctor’s visit today (Jan 7) the news was good, Monica is healing and shedoes not have any infection. The bigger surgery wound is still open and healing

from inside out without any discharge, but still very tender, therefore theyagreed that I (Jeff) could travel to Brazil tomorrow and if Monica has any

problem during the time I am in Brazil she is supposed to call them immediately.Although she is healing well, thank God, they believe that she should not take afull load this semester, if Milligan Scholarships allows Monica should only take

2 classes (6 credits) this semester and see how she does. Her body is stillhealing and she does not have much energy, thus she gets very tired quickly.Since today is our 24th Wedding Anniversary this doctor’s report was a great

gift from God for us. Please, continue to pray for Monica’s total healing in Jesusname and that she and the “boys” (Roger and Isaac) will be fine during the time

that I’ll be in Brazil. Thanks for your prayers!God is good, all the time; and He is acting among us!

Happy New Year! Greetings from your coworkers to the Portuguese-Speaking World!

Hands-On Bible College Update. Last month we shared BRoLM (Brazil River of LifeMinistries) goal in offering Leadership Training through the Hands-On Bible College inseveral locations in Brazil and also to take this training to the rest of the Portuguese-Speaking World. Thus we shared the financial need to make this possible and amatching gift challenge. God is faithful! BRoLM needed $7,000 to continue with theHands-On Bible College in Brazil in 2013; however God has more in store for 2013,and He touched His people's hearts and BRoLM received a total of $10,000 for thispurpose. In June, Jeff and Monica are planning to travel to Mozambique, Jeff will beteaching the Church Leaders and Monica at the grade school at the Hope Mission inNampula. With the $3,000 extra they will be able to take textbooks for the students inMozambique. God is good!

Pirituba Church promoted a Friendship Tea Outreach. It was a great opportunity tobring back some of the old members that left the church in the past, and to reach newpeople.

Sao Mateus Church Youth Outreach Team. Invited the youth that they beenreaching at the square close to the church to come for a youth service on Dec 15 andmany came!

The Youth Outreach Team led worship!

A young man made his decision to make Jesus his Lord and Savior! Praise theLord!

Jundiai Church New Location. The Jundiai Church was planted in March 2010; tostart they rented a small meeting hall that seated less than 50, however the churchhas average over 50 in attendance every Sunday. They have been looking for a newlocation for months. In December they found a place that is 5 times larger than theplace they were renting and by faith they signed the lease on Dec 15.

The new location use to be an auto repair service shop. A lot of cleaning,painting, and fixing was done by the church members to get the new location

ready.

On Dec 30 they had their first meeting at the new location.

As you can see, the building has no ceiling tiles; this is very expensive in Brazil.However, they will need to have ceiling tiles in place soon so they can keep the citypermit to meet. The city gives a permit for you to start meeting and gives you list ofthings you have to do, and then they schedule an inspection. Please, pray that theLord will send the financial resources for the ceiling tiles.

The CLP (Campo Limpo Paulista) Church participates in the City ChristmasCatanta. All the Evangelical/Christian Churches at CLP got together and promoted aChristmas Cantata at the City Gymnasium.

CLP has about 90 thousand population and less than 9% are Evangelical/Christian.Please, pray for the church in Campo.

Here inMozambique, we celebrate Christmas in a very simple way, but with much joy andcelebration.This year, the play will be "The Birth of Jesus in Macua Culture." Up-coming Events:

12 Days of Purpose. Every year since 2006 the BRoLM sets apart 12 days inJanuary to meet every day. It is called 12 Days of Purpose, as we say in Brazil “12Days of Clamor for 12 Months in the Presence of the Lord". It is a way of giving thefirst fruits of the year to the Lord and seeking His face and guidance for the rest of theyear. During these days the theme for the year is presented; 2013's theme is: "2013,The Year of the Spiritual Blessings". Jeff wrote 12 sermons, based on Ephesians 1:1-14, that will be preached at each church. Most churches will be meeting from January2 through the 13th.

Wedding Anniversary. On January 7, Monica and Jeff will be celebrating their 24thWedding Anniversary.

Monica’s Health. Monica has a doctor’s appointment on Jan 7; until now she ishealing very well, however there is still a possibility that she may need more surgery.Thanks for your prayers and all the help during the last few months since Monica gotsick and went through surgery. Please, continue to pray for her entire healing.

Jeff to Brazil. God willing Jeff is leaving for Brazil on Jan 8. During the time that hewill be in Brazil, he will meet with the elders and leaders from all BRoLM churches inSao Paulo area.In July 2012 Jeff met with the elders at CLP Church and since Ruben was the ministerat CLP and Jundiai churches, they decided that Jose Simonette (one of the elders)would be trained to become the minister at CLP Church, so Ruben can focus on onlyone church. Jeff will conduct a church meeting at CLP Church on Sunday, Jan 13 sothey can vote for Jose Simonette to become their new minister. The CLP Church willbe celebrating their 8th Anniversary, Jan 26, and if Jose Simonette is approved by theChurch, the elders will be ordaining him and Jeff will be speaking that day.Jeff will be preaching at the "12 Days of Purpose" at Pirituba Church (Jan 9-20).On Jan 20 Jeff will conduct a church meeting at Pirituba, so they can vote for a newboard and for some needs for the future. Jeff became the minister at this church inMay, and continues to preach and meet with elders every week, even when he is notin Brazil, through the internet. At this church meeting they will be voting on whether ornot they want Jeff to continue as their minister, or if they are ready to seek a newminister.
