Message from Father Pergjini: "I will go peacefully to the Catholic Church. For faith is so important to our salva on. I will seek it where the faith first began, seek it among those who receive it from God Himself." Saint Elizabeth Seton. Who is Elizabeth Seton? She was the first American born to be canonized a saint. She was a convert, who was received to our Catholic Church on March 4, 1805. Saint Elizabeth was a remarkable wife, mother, educator, and founders of a religious order who touched and inspired many lives. Her powerful statement can help those who are joining our Catholic church this Easter Vigil, and all of us who con nue to remain faithful to our Mother Church. This Easter vigil our parish is blessed to bap ze and confirm twelve adults. Some of them come from non Chris an families, others never followed their journey of Catholic faith, and others belonged to other denomina ons. These adults who freely and prayerfully made a commitment to come every single Wednesday evening to a end classes. We have two groups one in Spanish and one in English. The gospel of Saint Luke 24:1-12 on Easter Vigil reminds to all of us, as it did to Mary Magdalene and other women: "Why do you seek the living one among the dead? He is not here, but he has been raised. Remember what he said to you while he was s ll in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and be crucified, and rise the on the third day." They believed and went to share with great joy and exalta on the good news of that Christ is Risen. Some of them who heard this amazing news did not believe them. Others, like Saint Peter who ran to see the empty tomb, he was amazed of what he saw, and believed. The beauty of believing in the mystery of the resurrec on is that we are free to accept or reject it. It is gi that touches our heart in the darkness of our souls to enlighten our path to life and light of Christ. The women, the first witnesses of the Risen Christ did not argue to convince others to believe what they heard and saw. They followed Christ; by embracing the path of sufferings and death which led them to the Glory of Easter. From the beginning there were powerful Chris an witnesses, and s ll are today con nuing to accompany Christ in his way to Calvary. They do not escape the daily cross but freely embrace it. They are touched by the power of the Risen Lord who strengthens them and all of us who are willing to witness the Joy of Easter. Saint Elizabeth Seton, did witness the power of the risen Christ to others. She was never red to experience in her life the Catholic faith so important for her salva on. She found the faith where it first began, Catholic Church, seeking among those who have received it from God Himself. We are called to be witnesses of the power of the risen Lord. We hope and pray that those adults who have been touched by the power of Christ who peacefully and prayerfully will receive the sacraments of Bap sm, Confirma on and Holy Communion on this Easter Vigil, will be powerful witnesses of faith to others. May they encounter the power Christ in the sacraments they have already received. We hope and pray that this Easter, and always, to be witnesses with our words and deeds, to be faithful to His commandments in order to share the joy of the Risen Lord. We pray for those who became new members of the body and blood of Christ, and for us who have renewed our bap smal vows to be witnesses the power of the Risen Christ in our lives and the lives of others. "I will go peacefully to the Catholic Church. For faith is so important to our salva on. I will seek it where the faith first began, seek it among those who receive it from God Himself." Amen!
