BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE NASHVILLE GRAPHIC
At Ribeyes, we use a very high quality rib eye cut of beef. All of our beef is packed by Omaha Steaks in Omaha, Nebraska. The beef is USDA choice or better and comes from only mid-western grain fed beef. More specifically, the rib eye is hand-cut from a loin when the customer’s order is placed. All our rib eye steaks are cut from Angus cattle, which are bred for their supe-rior marbling and texture. All of our beef is aged 21 days for tenderness and flavor and is shipped fresh, never frozen. Only lightweight cattle are used to ensure a thicker cut of steaks. Finally, the lip portion, along with any excess fat, is trimmed from our cuts. All of this attention to detail makes for a superb quality cut of beef.
Our endless salad bar is made fresh every day. We break iceberg lettuce by hand and mix it with fresh cut Romaine. Our guests have at least 28 additional salad bar items from which to choose. We use only premium quality Ken’s Steak House sal-ad dressings. Our choices are: Ranch, Blue Cheese, Greek with Feta Cheese, Thou-sand Island, French, Fat Free Sun Dried Tomato Vinaigrette, and Fat Free Italian.

Making the important decision to get married can fill couples with joy and excitement as they imag-ine spending the rest of their lives together. Naturally, brides and grooms-to-be are anxious to share the good news with others and in-clude family and friends in the fes-tivities. One way couples exemplify inclusion is by asking their closest acquaintances to be part of their wedding parties.
Being asked to serve as a brides-maid or groomsman is an honor. Some couples may be tempted to ask every friend, sibling or cousin they have to be in their wedding par-ties, and some do. In fact, ancient Roman law required 10 witnesses to be part of the wedding ceremony. However, the larger the wedding party, the more people couples have to coordinate and the more person-alities they must manage.
While large wedding parties are in style, there isn’t any one-size-fits-all formula to decide which size party is right for a particular situa-tion. Trends vary based on geogra-phy and culture. These tips can help couples decide on the size of their wedding parties.
• Match it to scope and style. Wedding planners may use a stan-dard ratio for a proportion of guests to wedding party members. That ratio is one pair of wedding atten-dants for every 50 guests. This cre-ates a balanced feel where the more
people in attendance, the larger the wedding party and vice versa.
• Consider your expenses. Wed-ding party members may be asked to spend considerable amounts of money to be in the wedding, but the couple will have certain expenses tied to the wedding party as well. These can include limousines to ferry people between the ceremony and reception, photography costs to arrange and photograph large wedding parties, the cost of bou-tonnieres and bouquets, attendants’ gifts, as well as extra mouths to feed at the rehearsal dinner. Small wedding parties can be easier on couples’ budgets.
• Know your expectations. Cou-ples should discuss what they ex-pect from their wedding parties. Do couples want their loved ones to be very hands-on or waiting in the wings? For those who want a lot of input from their wedding parties, asking distant friends or family to be included may be impractical.
• Select reliable, easygoing peo-ple. Wedding party members should be people couples can rely on, and it only helps if wedding party mem-bers are not prone to overreacting. Choose a wedding party that can be trusted and people with whom you get along.
Wedding party sizes are up to the couple, but bigger isn’t always bet-ter.

Couples opting to get back to basics, streamline their nuptials and create more intimate and less superficial affairs of-ten gravitate toward rustic celebrations to showcase their ideals. Rustic weddings also may appeal to environmentalists and men and women who want their weddings to be as eco-friendly as possible.
Rustic weddings may include those cer-emonies and receptions that take place out-doors or in abodes, such as barns, wineries, castles, or converted silos or town facto-ries. In fact, Bridal Guide says that barn weddings have never been more popular — among both urban and rural couples alike.
Coordinating a rustic wedding may mean letting go of perceived notions of how everything from food to favors to flowers should be. In fact, one way to de-scribe rustic weddings — and especially the floral arrangements that adorn them — is “purposely imperfect.”
Rustic wedding bouquets may seem like they were plucked right out of the garden or grabbed through a stroll in a meadow. They’re rarely symmetrical or feature the
customary flowers of more formal wed-ding celebrations.
When designing rustic bouquets, florists may keep the stems of wildflowers or other blooms untethered for a relaxed feel. Long stemmed arrangements are quite popular, and trends point toward bouquets that are loosely tied with raffia, twine, vines and other natural materials rather than more refined ribbon.
Another way rustic bouquets set them-selves apart is with the introduction of other elements into the arrangements. Not merely blooms and greenery, rustic pieces may feature twigs, vines, berries, scabiosa pods, ivy, and feathery ferns. The heights of elements in the bouquet are varied, and the bouquets will not have an overly uni-form shape. Rustic bouquets are far from pretentious, and brides shouldn’t feel that these bouquets are delicate or will fall apart when handled.
When planning a rustic wedding, cou-ples can work with their florists to create bouquets and arrangements that fit with their visions.
Rustic bouquets add natural flair to wedding celebrations

Wedding Budget Planner
When it comes to planning a wed-ding, finances are first and foremost on the minds of many couples. As the costs associated with weddings con-tinue to rise, the need for a budget only grows more apparent.
But how can a couple establish and stick to a budget? Doing so depends on each individual couple, how much they can spend and what they're will-ing to sacrifice for their big day.
Establishing a BudgetWedding budgets can vary greatly
depending on the couple and the type of wedding they desire. A wedding budget should be established as far in advance as possible.
When setting the budget, it's best to determine exactly how much you can spend, and then set the budget lower than that. For example, if the most you can afford is $25,000, set your budget at $22,000. This will allow you some wiggle room when the inevitable hap-pens and you're forced to go over budget.
Monitor Your SpendingOnce a budget has been deter-
mined, a good way for couples to adhere to that budget is to establish a separate wedding spending account. This account should be separate from personal accounts, and all wed-ding expenses should be drawn solely from this wedding account. This is a good way to monitor how much you're spending, and your monthly statement will provide an itemized list of how much is being deposited and spent.
Be Ready to Spend MoreRegardless of how well you've
planned the wedding, you're going to end up spending more than your initial budget allowed. This happens for a number of reasons, ranging from over-time fees at the reception to tipping the vendors to larger guest lists than you might have originally intended.
Prepare for the inevitable over-spending by cutting back on other expenses leading up to the big day.
Rather than going out to dinner on weekends, make a homecooked meal to save some money. Instead of costly trips to a night club, invite friends over for the night. You'll be surprised how much these subtle lifestyle changes can save you.
Stick to Your GunsWhile you should be prepared
to spend more, that extra spending should be saved for things such as tip-ping the staff and possibly paying more for an additional guest or two. Where couples should be budget-cautious is when vendors try to up-sell ser-vices. For example, while a top-shelf bar might be a nice gesture, it can be considerably more expensive than just offering beer at your reception, and let-ting your guests pay for liquor.
If a vendor tries to up-sell, cou-ples should not hold that against the vendor. After all, that is the vendor's job. Instead, prioritize what you want before you go visit any vendors. You're much more likely to be happy with your selections.
BIG SPENDERS. Finances should be a concern when planning a wedding.

Roles of best man, maid of honor
Being chosen as a best man or a maid of honor is a significant and meaningful honor. Those roles have evolved over the years, but these spe-cial participants must still perform some of the traditional duties of the past, including serving as the offi-cial witnesses to the ceremony. The following is a rundown of the vari-ous duties maids of honor and best men are now expected to handle once they’re chosen for these distinguished honors.
Prior to the weddingBefore the wedding takes place,
the maid of honor will closely assist the bride-to-be with many of the im-portant decisions related to the look and the feel of the wedding. She typi-cally accompanies the bride to dress shops to select gowns for the bride and bridesmaids. Much in the same manner, the best man will assist the groom-to-be with choosing tuxedoes or suits and also with coordinating with the ushers to ensure they know when to go for fittings.
Although the best man will serve as a sounding board for the groom, traditionally the bride and her brides-maids have taken on the majority of the wedding planning, so the maid of honor can expect to play a larger role than the best man. The maid of honor may be asked to delegate certain as-signments, such as helping to find wedding vendors or addressing invi-tations. She may go with the bride for makeup and hairstyle trials. Together with the bridesmaids, she will plan a bridal shower party and a bachelorette excursion. She may select a wedding gift for the couple and present it on behalf of all the wedding attendants.
The best man will coordinate the bachelor party and may be asked to assist the groom with selecting a hon-eymoon site or to come along to book the trip.
Wedding dayOn the day of the wedding, the maid
of honor and the best man will act as a support system for the bride and groom. The maid of honor will help
the bride get dressed and help iron out any mini-emergencies that should crop up. The best man will help en-sure all of the ushers are dressed and get the groom to the wedding on time.
During the ceremony, the maid of honor will hold the bride’s bouquet while she participates in the wedding. The best man will keep the rings safe until they are needed. The maid of honor also will help adjust the bride’s train and veil as she sits and stands during the ceremony. Both will sign the marriage certificate as witnesses.
At the reception, the best man is ex-pected to give a toast and the maid of honor may share some words as well. She also may accompany the bride to the restroom and assist her with man-aging the gown.
After the weddingThe best man will be in charge of
returning the tuxedoes to the rental shop, if necessary. He also may drive the newly married couple to the air-port so they can depart on their hon-eymoon.
The maid of honor will assist the bride in changing out of her gown and into her travel clothes. Oftentimes the maid of honor takes the gown to the cleaners in the days following the cer-emony so the dress can be preserved.
Happy couples choose friends and family members to serve as atten-dants in their weddings. Bridesmaids and groomsmen each have different responsibilities in the wedding.
In ancient times, groomsmen es-sentially served as the groom’s body-guards, ensuring that he made it safe-ly to the altar and to his future wife. Today, the groomsmen’s roles are not based on saving life and limb.
Today’s groomsmen serve as as-sistants to the groom and help plan the bachelor party. They also usher guests down the aisle at the ceremo-ny. They also may have a few other responsibilities, depending on what the couple wants of their assistants.
Before the Wedding* Help pick out the tuxedos and
show up for fittings.* Help plan and share the cost of the
bachelor party.* Attend rehearsals for the ceremony
and appear at the rehearsal dinner.* Pay for their own wedding attire or
formal wear rentals.* Help unload cars with supplies if
the couple is doing the decorating for the wedding themselves.
* Pay for their travel expenses and accommodation during the celebra-tion.
* Return formal wear for themselves and the groom.
* Provide transportation for the cou-ple to the airport or honeymoon desti-nation if the best man is unavailable.
During the Ceremony* Greet and seat guests at the cere-
mony in the appropriate rows or pews.* Stand near the groom during the
ceremony.* Serve as escorts for the brides-
maids at the ceremony.* Cater to anyone’s needs and min-
gle with the guests afterward.
Party Time* Ensure that the groom does not
get too intoxicated. * Sit at the table of honor beside the
rest of the bridal party.* Mingle with the guests.* Participate in all photos if asked.* Dance with their bridesmaid
counterpart.* Help load the wedding gifts into
the car afterward.

Rehearsal Dinners at Western Sizzlin are always
It was 1973. Richard Nixon was president. On television, Americans were watching “All In The Family,” “Columbo” and “The Waltons.” At the movies, “The Godfather” and “Cabaret.” And on the radio, they were listening to “Delta Dawn” and “Yellow Ribbon.”
In December of that year, West-ern Sizzlin opened on 301 ByPass in Rocky Mount, The restaurant is now marking its 46th anniversary.
Since the grand opening, the store
has remodeled 7 times, usually with an addition. All seven times, the res-taurant was in luck. The staff was able to find contractors, willing to work at night, so the restaurant did not have to close.
Western Sizzlin specializes in great signature steaks, fresh bountiful salad bars, and buffets. Simply put - “It’s just great food you can count on.”
The restaurant is also a great loca-tion for rehearsal dinners.
Bridal couples are invited to visit
Western Sizzlin . . . and consider it as THE PLACE to host a rehearsal din-ner.
Interested couples can call 252-446-3262 to set up an appointment. Western Sizzlin’s friendly staff can help you with your selections of great steaks and fresh salads. There’s a par-ty to fit any budget.
Western Sizzlin is located on 301 By-Pass North in Rocky Mount.
