Ms. Nutting was born in Carroll County to the late Harrison C. and Lillie Mai Griffin Nutting. She was a retired cook for Forestwood Restaurant and member of Bethel Baptist Church, McKenzie. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her one daughter, Alice Marie Haney; three sisters, Agnes Cantwell, Frances Spice, and Sylvia Purvis; and three brothers, Gordon Nutting, Lloyd Nutting and Lyndell (Jack) Nutting. Mr. King was born August 15, 1925 in Carroll County to the late Hobert King and Ollie (Foust) King. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Haskins and Sue Wiser; and three brothers, J.R. King, Edwin King, and Lee Ira King. Mr. King was a longtime teacher, coach, principal, and retired as Superintendent of the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Special School District. He was a WWII Army veteran, a graduate from Murray State University with a masters degree in education, a 50+ year member of TSSAA, inducted into the Carroll County sports Hall of Fame in 2004, a member of First Baptist Church in Huntingdon. He was a 32nd degree mason of Hollow Rock Lodge # 288, member of Scottish Rite and Al Chymia Shrine Temple. Survivors include: his wife of 53 years, Patsy King; one son, Keith (Debra) King of Mt. Juliet; one sister, Wanza (Charles) Bond of Bruceton; one brother, Robert M. King of Bruceton; and two grandchildren. LORETTA ANN BOYD 1937-2011 HUNTINGDON: Loretta Ann Boyd, 73, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Mrs. Boyd was born July 2, 1937 in Carroll County to the late Adrian Glenmore Springer and Nova Burline (Horn) Springer. She was a retired substitute teacher for the Huntingdon Special School District and a member of the Holladay Chapel Church of Christ. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Robert Jeremy Crossett in 2004; and a brother, Wilburn Springer. WELDON BAILEY RICH 1926-2011 HUNTINGDON: Weldon Bailey Rich, 84, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Burial followed in Oak Grove Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Rich was born September 11, 1926 in Carroll County to the late Leslie Rich and Novie (Dill) Rich. He was a self-employed bricklayer, a World War II veteran, and member of Oak Grove Congregational Methodist Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Franklin Rich; and one granddaughter, Lisa Wilson. BROOKSIE VONELL BRANDON ORR 1921-2011 HUNTINGDON: Brooksie Vonell Brandon Orr, 89, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Huntingdon Health & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were Friday, January 7, at 1 p.m. at Clarksburg Church of Christ with Bro. Billy Ringold officiating. Burial followed in Barr Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Orr was born September 18, 1921 in Huntingdon to the late Milton Brandon and Telitha (Johnson) Brandon. She was a retired employee of the Publix Shirt Corporation and a member of Clarksburg Church of Christ. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Newton Orr, who passed away in April 1996; five brothers, Basil Brandon, Cecil Brandon, Weldon Brandon, George Alec Brandon, and Elmer Brandon; and two sisters, Thelma Williams and Hesta Russell. Survivors include: one daughter, Angie (Don) Bartholomew of Clarksburg; one son, Thomas Ritchie (Margaret) Orr of Huntingdon; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. DIANNA CHRISTINE HARRIS 1948-2011 PARIS: Dianna Christine Harris, 62, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at her home. Mrs. Bell was born January 31, 1941 in Carroll County. She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis Wingo. Burial followed in Union Academy Cemetery in McKenzie. Mrs. Welch was born February 17, 1920 in Carroll County to the late Marion Vinson and Betty Lee Vinson. She was a retired employee of Gaines Manufacturing and member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Welch; and one son, Nicholas Ronald Welch. Survivors include: one son, Donnie Welch of Milan; three daughters, Peggy Inman of Trezevant, Martha Fly and Norman Woodard, both of Milan; 11 grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren and four great- great-grandchildren. DENNIS THOMAS SMITH 1955-2011 MCKENZIE: Dennis Thomas Smith, 55, died Monday, January 10, 2011 at his home. Funeral mass is Saturday, January 15, 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Mission in Huntingdon with the Rev. Father Joey Kaump officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McKenzie. Mr. Smith was born October 13, 1955 in Ottumwa, Iowa to the late Tom and Louise Ollendick Smith. He was a Production Supervisor at CSI in McKenzie and a Communicant at Holy Family Catholic Mission in Huntingdon. Survivors include: his wife of 36 years, Patti Quinn Smith of McKenzie; three daughters, Kim (Fred) Barfield of Ottumwa, Iowa, Julie (Ben) Sodey of St. Louis, Missouri, and Amy Winchester of McKenzie; one son, Patrick Smith of McKenzie; two sisters, Mary Barker of Ottumwa, Iowa and Ginger Smith of Rochester, Minnesota; four brothers, Stephen Smith of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, David Smith of Des Moines, Iowa, Don Smith of Montrose, Iowa, and Mike Smith of Ottumwa, Iowa; and four grandsons, Jakob Winchester, Landon Winchester, Tanner Smith, and Holden Sodey. The family will receive friends at McKenzie Funeral Home Friday, January 14, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. for a Christian Wake and a Rosary beginning at 8 p.m. THIS WEEK’S REPORTS Vandalism Over $500 •Storage buildings were found vandalized in Huntingdon on January 3, 2011. According to a report filed by Ptlm. Jeff Winberry, the officer received a call from dispatch to respond to the storage buildings on Lexington Street and Highway 22 South for some vandalism that had taken place. When the officer arrived, he was met by Harold Miller, of Miller Construction. He advised the officer that he had some damage done to some of his machinery that was on a job site. Miller had two pieces of machinery that had the windows broken out. The officer advised Miller that he would take a report and talk to some of the people around the area. The officer also advised Miller that if he would get the officer an estimate of the damage, the officer would list it in the report. The matter is still under investigation. ••• Theft Under $500 •A Huntingdon man was arrested and cited into General Sessions Court for theft under $500 on January 1, 2011. According to a report filed by Sgt/ Randall Dunn, the officer was dispatched to Wal-Mart in Huntingdon on a shoplifter complaint. When he arrived, the loss prevention officer for Wal- Mart had Brian Jones, of High Street, in custody. He had taken an X Box and attempted to leave the store without paying for the item. He was cited into General Sessions Court. ••• Underage Consumption and Evading Arrest •A Juvenile Petition was prepared on a 17-year old youth for underage consumption and evading arrest on Dec. 30, 2010. According to a report filed by Ptlm. Jeff Winberry, the officer received a call from Wal-Mart about a shoplifter their security personnel had in custody. When the officer arrived, they did have a white male in custody for trying to leave the store without paying for some merchandise. The subject tried to push some beer and other merchandise out the store doors without paying them. The subject had no identification and told the officer that he was 19-years-old. The officer placed the subject under arrest and took him to jail to have him booked. The officer read the subject his rights and asked him if he wanted to talk to the officer freely without a lawyer. He said, “Yes.” The officer asked the subject his age again and he stated that he was 17-years-old. The officer stopped the booking process and took the subject to the police department to release him to his parents. The subject then tried to run from the police department. He was later taken back into custody for evading. The subject had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person. The officer did a juvenile petition on the subject and released him to his family. ••• Aggravated Domestic Assault •A Huntingdon woman was assaulted on January 1, 2011. According to a report filed by Sgt. Randall Dunn, officers were dispatched to Drew Court in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon his arrival, Casey Hooker, of the above address, said that her boyfriend, Eric W. Williams, of Bridgeman Steet, Huntingdon, had hit her with a tape and pushed her into the bathtub. She had a mark on the left side of her forehead and her left arm. When he was located, he was charged with aggravated domestic assault and transported to the Carroll County Jail. Bond was set at $10,000. ••• Driving While Revoked First Offense and Speeding •A Jackson man was arrested and cited into General Sessions Court for driving while revoked first offense and speeding on Dec. 31, 2010. According to a report filed by Ptlm. Chris Cole, the officer performed a traffic stop on a grey 2008 Pontiac on Buena Vista Road for traveling 49 mph in a 30 mph zone. Upon making contact with the driver, Maurice Teague, of Archwood Drive, the officer asked him to provide a driver’s license. He stated that he did not have one. After performing an NCIC check on Teague, it showed his license to be in a revoked status with no prior convictions. Teague was then transported to the Carroll County jail for booking and then cited into General Sessions Court. ••• Driving While Unlicensed, Speeding, and Violation of Registration Law •A Huntingdon man was arrested and cited into General Sessions Court for driving while unlicensed, speeding, and violation of the registration law on January 1, 2011. According to a report filed by Ptlm. Earl Medlin, the officer performed a traffic stop on a white 1993 Chevy Silverado on Buena Vista Road for traveling 54 mph in a 30 mph zone and for having an expired tag. Upon running an NCIC check on the vehicle’s tag, it showed it to be expired since Huntingdon Police Reports August 31, 2008. Upon making contact with the driver, Ryan Hilliard, of Wortham Loop, the officer asked him to provide a driver’s license. He stated that he did not have it with him. After performing an NCIC check on Hilliard’s license, it showed him to be eligible for a driver’s license, but to be unlicensed at the current time. Hilliard was then cited into General Sessions Court. ••• Two-Vehicle Accident on High Street •A two-vehicle accident took place on High Street on December 31, 2010. According to a report filed by Ptlm. Brad Allen, A white 2001 Mack truck, driven by Donald R. Muchitch, Jr., 43, of Voss Lane, Huntingdon, was traveling north on High Street and was stopped to pick up garbage. A gold 1981 Pontiac, driven by James E. Johnson, 77, of Green Allen Springs Road, Huntingdon, was traveling north on High Street and attempted to go around the truck. Johnson then decided not to pass and swerved into the back left side of the truck. There was damage greater than $400 done to Johnson’s vehicle and less than $400 to Muchitch’s vehicle. ••• Two-Vehicle Accident on West Main Street •A two-vehicle accident took place on West Main Street on December 30, 2010. According to a report filed by Sgt. Walter Smothers, a gray 2007 Nissan, driven by Cedric Edmonson, 38, of West Lane, Huntingdon, was stopped in traffic when a white 2008 Ford, driven by David L. Smith, 41, of Cedar Street, McKenzie struck Edmonson’s vehicle from behind. There was damage greater than $400 done to both vehicles. Kimberlee Roberts and Hannah Jowers were the top two sellers of Girl Scout products, among more than 100 girls. Kimberlee sold $1,571.00 to claim first place and Hannah sold $901.00 for second place. Mr. King was born August 15, 1925 in Carroll County to the late Hobert King and Ollie (Foust) King. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Haskins and Sue Wiser; and three brothers, J.R. King, Edwin King, and Lee Ira King.

Mr. King was a longtime teacher, coach, principal, and retired as Superintendent of the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Special School District. He was a WWII Army veteran, a graduate from Murray State University with a masters degree in education, a 50+ year member of TSSAA, inducted into the Carroll County sports Hall of

Fame in 2004, a member of First Baptist Church in Huntingdon. He was a 32nd degree mason of Hollow Rock Lodge # 288, member of Scottish Rite and Al Chymia Shrine Temple.

Survivors include: his wife of 53 years, Patsy King; one son, Keith (Debra) King of Mt. Juliet; one sister, Wanza (Charles) Bond of Bruceton; one brother, Robert M. King of Bruceton; and two grandchildren.

LORETTA ANN BOYD 1937-2011

HUNTINGDON: Loretta Ann Boyd, 73, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Friday, January 7, at 11 a.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Doug Sellers officiating. Burial followed in Humbles Cemetery.

Mrs. Boyd was born July 2, 1937 in Carroll County to the late Adrian Glenmore Springer and Nova Burline (Horn) Springer. She was a retired substitute teacher for the Huntingdon Special School District and a member of the Holladay Chapel Church of Christ. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Robert Jeremy Crossett in 2004; and a brother, Wilburn Springer.

Survivors include: her husband of 54 years, Bobby Boyd; two daughters, Deborah Ann (Tim) Lewis of Bay Minette, Alabama and Bobbie Jean (David) Bowling of Jackson; two grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Newton Orr, who passed away in April 1996; five brothers, Basil Brandon, Cecil Brandon, Weldon Brandon, George Alec Brandon, and Elmer Brandon; and two sisters, Thelma Williams and Hesta Russell.

Vandalism Over $500•Storage buildings were found

vandalized in Huntingdon on January 3, 2011.

According to a report filed by Ptlm. Jeff Winberry, the officer received a call from dispatch to respond to the storage buildings on Lexington Street and Highway 22 South for some vandalism that had taken place. When the officer arrived, he was met by Harold Miller, of Miller Construction. He advised the officer that he had some damage done to some of his machinery that was on a job site. Miller had two pieces of machinery that had the windows broken out. The officer advised Miller that he would take a report and talk to some of the people around the area. The officer also advised Miller that if he would get the officer an estimate of the damage, the officer would list it in the report. The matter is still under investigation.

• A H u n t i n g d o n m a n w a s arrested and cited into General Sessions Court for theft under $500 on January 1, 2011.

According to a report filed by Sgt/ Randall Dunn, the officer was dispatched to Wal-Mar t in Huntingdon on a shoplifter complaint. When he arrived, the loss prevention officer for Wal-Mart had Brian Jones, of High Street, in custody. He had taken an X Box and attempted to leave the store without paying for the item. He was cited into General Sessions Court.

prepared on a 17-year old youth for underage consumption and evading arrest on Dec. 30, 2010.

According to a report filed by Ptlm. Jeff Winberry, the officer received a call from Wal-Mart about a shoplifter their security personnel had in custody. When the officer arrived, they did have a white male in custody for trying to leave the store without paying for some merchandise. The subject tried to push some beer and other merchandise out the store doors without paying them. The subject had no identification and told the officer that he was 19-years-old. The officer placed the subject under arrest and took him to jail to have him booked. The officer read the subject his rights and asked him if he wanted to talk to the officer freely without a lawyer. He said, “Yes.” The officer asked the subject his age again and he stated that he was 17-years-old. The officer stopped the booking process and took the subject to the police department to release him to his parents. The subject then tried to run from the police department. He was later taken back into custody for evading. The subject had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person. The officer did a juvenile petition on the subject and released him to his family.

•••Aggravated Domestic Assault

•A Huntingdon woman was assaulted on January 1, 2011.

According to a report filed by Sgt. Randall Dunn, officers were dispatched to Drew Court i n re f e re n c e t o a d o m e s t i c disturbance. Upon his arrival, Casey Hooker, of the above address, said that her boyfriend, Eric W. Williams, of Bridgeman Steet, Huntingdon, had hit her

with a tape and pushed her into the bathtub. She had a mark on the left side of her forehead and her left arm. When he was located, he was charged with aggravated domestic assault and transported to the Carroll County Jail. Bond was set at $10,000.

•••Driving While Revoked First

Offense and Speeding•A Jackson man was arrested

and cited into General Sessions Court for driving while revoked first offense and speeding on Dec. 31, 2010.

According to a report filed by Ptlm. Chris Cole, the officer performed a traffic stop on a grey 2008 Pontiac on Buena Vista Road for traveling 49 mph in a 30 mph zone. Upon making contact with the driver, Maurice Teague, of Archwood Drive, the officer asked him to provide a driver’s license. He stated that he did not have one. After performing an NCIC check on Teague, it showed his license to be in a revoked status with no prior convictions. Teague was then transported to the Carroll County jail for booking and then cited into General Sessions Court.

•••Driving While Unlicensed, Speeding, and Violation of

arrested and cited into General S e s s i o n s C o u r t fo r d r iv i n g while unlicensed, speeding, and violation of the registration law on January 1, 2011.

According to a report filed by Ptlm. Earl Medlin, the officer performed a traffic stop on a white 1993 Chevy Silverado on Buena Vista Road for traveling 54 mph in a 30 mph zone and for having an expired tag. Upon running an NCIC check on the vehicle’s tag, it showed it to be expired since

Huntingdon Police ReportsAugust 31, 2008. Upon making contact with the driver, Ryan Hilliard, of Wortham Loop, the officer asked him to provide a driver’s license. He stated that he did not have it with him. After performing an NCIC check on Hilliard’s license, it showed him to be eligible for a driver’s license, but to be unlicensed at the current time. Hilliard was then cited into General Sessions Court.

•••Two-Vehicle Accident on High

Street •A two-vehicle accident took

place on High Street on December 31, 2010.

According to a report filed by Ptlm. Brad Allen, A white 2001 Mack truck, driven by Donald R. Muchitch, Jr., 43, of Voss Lane, Huntingdon, was traveling north on High Street and was stopped to pick up garbage. A gold 1981 Pontiac, driven by James E. Johnson, 77, of Green Allen Springs Road, Huntingdon, was traveling north on High Street and attempted to go around the truck. Johnson then decided not to pass and swerved into the back left side of the truck. There was damage greater than $400 done to Johnson’s vehicle and less than $400 to Muchitch’s vehicle.

•••Two-Vehicle Accident on West

Main Street•A two-vehicle accident took

place on West Main Street on December 30, 2010.

According to a report filed by Sgt. Walter Smothers, a gray 2007 Nissan, driven by Cedric Edmonson, 38, of West Lane, Huntingdon, was stopped in traffic when a white 2008 Ford, driven by David L. Smith, 41, of Cedar Street, McKenzie struck Edmonson’s vehicle from behind. There was damage greater than $400 done to both vehicles.

Kimberlee Roberts and Hannah Jowers were the top two sellers of Girl Scout products, among more than 100 girls. Kimberlee sold $1,571.00 to claim first place and Hannah sold $901.00 for second place.

For their terrific sales, the girls spent the afternoon in Tupelo, Mississippi attending the Disney Princess on Ice show.
