TRANSCRIPT

  • BS-240 / BS-241Base Transceiver Stations

    BS-240/241 is the new future-proof

    evolution of Siemens BTS hard-

ware. Highlights are 24 TRX in

3 racks with 8 TRX each, signifi-

    cantly reduced volume per TRX,

    and a future-oriented platform for

    new GSM features. Siemens latest

    base stations are already prepared

    for UMTS.

    Product Profile

Increasing demands for highercapacity are met by BS-240/241through reduced volume and anexpanded number of 24TRX in3 racks with a modularity of 8 TRXper rack. This also makes theBS-240/241 a powerful dualbandbase station for GSM900 andGMS1800, as well as for GSM900and GSM1900.

A full spectrum of combining equip-ment means high output power anda minimized number of antennas forall cell configurations. High receiversensitivity is also guaranteed.A future SDMA option is planned. The modular architecture and theflexible internal structure with datarates of up to 2MBit/s enables theBS-240/241 to provide new GSMfeatures such as EDGE.This platformensures that network evolution is assmooth as possible. The use of latesttechnology reduces power consump-tion and improves reliability.

  • Customer Benefits

Compatibility with existing SBSensures easy integration into thealready installed infrastructure

Possible site configurations of upto 72TRX/site prepares forincreasing capacity requirements

Highest reliability thanks toredundancy for all core modules

Reduced investment costs dueto integrated Abis cross connect(8 PCM lines)

Fast network rollout: approximately50% fewer sites required due tohigh RX sensitivity and high outputpower

BS-240/241 can consist of upto 8 racks: 1 base rack,1 or 2 extension racks and upto 5 service racks

Pre-installed commissioningreduces installation time to lessthan one hour

No service interruption for rackextension orTRX exchange

Smart antennas (beam switching)option increases capacity

High site efficiency due to reducedvolume of 54 liters/TRX and smallfootprint

Architecture prepared for futureGSM features (e.g. EDGE): functional, modular internalstructure, highly flexible signalprocessing capacity, exchangeableRF frontend

    Compatibility

The BS-240/241 are compatible withthe existing Siemens BS-20/21/22 andBS-60/61 products. An easy expansionof installed networks with the newBS-240/241 is possible. Softwarefeatures will run independently onall BTS types.
