This British Standard is the official English language version of EN 1537:1999. Itsupersedes those parts of BS 8081:1989 that deal with the construction ('execution')of ground anchorages; these parts will therefore be declared obsolescent byamendment.

The harmonized European design of ground anchorages will be dealt with byEN 1997-1. Until it is published, the design parts of BS 8081:1989 apply, whereafter BS 8081:1989 will be declared obsolescent on its entirety.

The UK participation in its preparation was entrusted to Technical CommitteeB/526, Geotechnics, which has the responsibility to:

Ð aid enquirers to understand the text;

Ð present to the responsible European committee any enquiries on theinterpretation, or proposals for change, and keep the UK interests informed;

Ð monitor related international and European developments and promulgate

them in the UK.

 A list of organizations represented on this committee can be obtained on request toits secretary.
