The study of philosophy offers a breadth of knowledge, reasoning and writing skills. Additionally, this program encourages strong critical thinking skills and the ability to understand complex issues.
Philosophy students gain an understanding of traditional philosophical subjects: • The nature and justification of moral values • Religious and scientific explanations of the world • The rationality of social institutions • The nature of reasoning and argument
Philosophy Pre-law students will also have the opportunity to engage with law-specific topics such as: • The nature of the law • The relation between morality and law • Causation in tort and negligence law • Counter-factual reasoning in the law

B.S. Philosophy This Legal Education Accelerated Degree (LEAD)
program allows high-achieving students to earn both a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and a law
degree from the University of Kansas in only six years. After three years at K-State, students will transfer to
KU’s School of Law.

Admissions requirements • Be admitted for the summer or fall term. • Submit a program application at ksu.edu/prelaw/lead • Have a minimum high school 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 unweighted scale. • Have an ACT score of at least 26, or an SAT of at least 1170.
Please note that only a select number of students will be admitted to the program.
Application timeline • Feb. 1: Priority deadline to apply. • March 1: Priority deadline to file the FAFSA. • Early March: Program committee will review qualified applications. • Mid-March: Applicants will be notified of admissions decisions by mail.
